Location
Rethymno Palace boasts a great location for anyone visiting Crete. The hotel is conveniently located less than 10 minutes away from Rethymno Old Town by taxi and there is a bus stop just a block away. Guests don't need to travel far for anything they need as there are plenty of restaurants, shops and tavernas nearby, including a street full of souvenir shops. Additionally, the hotel is situated on a beautiful beach with stunning sea views visible from some rooms. Visitors can take a nice walk outside the hotel or easily visit Rethymno City which is only a few minutes away by car. While the beach may be rocky and not the most beautiful, there are plenty of great tavernas nearby and it's the perfect location for exploring all that Crete has to offer.

Breakfast
Guests have raved about the breakfast at Rethymno Palace! The spread is large and varied with delicious local options and specialties and a good selection of foods. Some guests particularly enjoyed the buffet of fruits and homemade desserts with ice cream. Cocktails are excellent and fresh water is available all day at the beach bar. While some guests noted that the breakfast was pretty much the same every day, most found the options to be mouthwatering and with enough variety. However, a few guests did mention that the juice and desserts could use some improvement and a few more local meat and fish options would be appreciated. Overall, guests found the quality of the breakfast to be top-notch and the friendly staff very attentive.

Dinner
The dinner experience at Rethymno Palace is a highlight for many guests with a new cuisine theme offered each day, including Greek, seafood and Asian nights. The food is generally fresh, tasty and varied with a good selection available for both lunch and dinner. Some guests note that some of the local and Greek specialties could be featured more prominently, but overall, guests sample a wide range of dishes and enjoy the different themes. There are different bars available, including a nice beach bar and lobby bar. However, some guests have had negative experiences with management, feeling that they were rude and disorganized. There are some comments about repetition, lack of quality and variety and some dishes being too greasy or lacking in flavor. Some guests have experienced food poisoning. Many guests also note that there are some areas for improvement, such as offering more desserts that are not too fatty and adding more local dishes and lighter options to the menu. Finally, some guests who opted for the all-inclusive package were disappointed that certain drinks and fresh juices were not included and had to pay extra. Nonetheless, there were many guests who praised the quality of the food and service, enjoying the variety and different themes offered each day.

Rooms
The Rethymno Palace hotel boasts spacious and comfortable rooms, as well as a large and nice swimming pool. The location is perfect, right on the beach with a magnificent view. The facilities are great and the rooms are well decorated and thought out. Most guests rave about the newly refurbished rooms, which are spotless and equipped with tea and coffee making facilities. However, some reviewers mention a few maintenance issues, such as a broken showerhead, a hard-to-open bathroom faucet and a strong smell of sewage in some rooms. Despite this, overall, the rooms are exceptional with modern decoration, comfortable beds and large and well-done-out bathrooms. Cleaning service visits the room every other day and the housekeeping is excellent.

Cleanliness
Travellers who value cleanliness will definitely enjoy their stay at Rethymno Palace. According to reviews from past guests, the entire hotel is extremely clean and well-maintained. The staff, particularly the housekeeping team, are friendly and always ensure that the rooms are spotless and cleaned every day. The property is equipped with exceptional facilities that are regularly cleaned, ensuring that everything is in excellent condition. Though a few guests have noted that some areas might need updating, overall the hotel is beautiful and sparkling. The buffet and service receive high praise as well. In short, Rethymno Palace is a top-notch hotel for those who appreciate absolute cleanliness and outstanding service.

Staff
The staff at Rethymno Palace are definitely a highlight of the hotel experience, according to guest reviews. From the friendly and welcoming bar staff to the amazing team in the beach bar, visitors consistently noted the positive and polite attitudes of the staff. Many guests also appreciated that the staff were multilingual and well-educated, able to communicate effectively in a variety of languages. While there were some isolated negative experiences, such as impolite staff at the front desk or unfriendly waiting staff, the majority of feedback was overwhelmingly positive. Specific staff members, such as Greg the supervisor or the couple in the little shop, were singled out for their exceptional hospitality. Despite some language barriers, most guests found the staff to be attentive, helpful and friendly throughout their stay.

Spa
If you're looking for a truly relaxing experience during your stay at Rethymno Palace, the hotel's spa is definitely worth a visit. Despite some negative comments about the SPA staff, many guests have raved about the excellent massages and treatments that they received during their stay. Plus, the 15 minute free SPA treatment is a great way to test out the services before committing to a longer session. It’s good to note that the service for changing towels is only available from 10am to 6pm, which can be inconvenient for those who want to spend more time on the beach. Overall, the staff at the spa - and indeed, throughout the resort - are friendly, welcoming and accommodating. Be sure to take advantage of the bar in the spa area too!

Pool
The Rethymno Palace boasts a beautiful and large swimming pool that visitors love. Though some guests noted that the pool area can get crowded, there are plenty of chairs and loungers available (though some reviewers did complain about other guests reserving chairs with towels early in the morning). The beach is lovely, though it can get rocky in places. Visitors enjoyed the beach bar, which has recently been renovated. The pool itself is nice and clean with several reviewers noting its size and depth (more than 3 meters). There is also a separate pool for children. Despite some complaints about the limited number of seats on the beach, most guests seemed happy with the plentiful loungers around the pool. Overall, the Rethymno Palace provides a beautiful pool experience with stunning views of the sea.

Beach
If you're looking for a hotel with direct access to a beachfront, Rethymno Palace might be the perfect choice for you. You can go from your hotel room to the beach without paying an entrance fee every time. The beach bar is a great addition and the beach itself is right by the hotel, making it very convenient. While the beach might not be sandy, it's still pretty and offers plenty of spots to enjoy the waves. Keep in mind that the water is a bit rocky, so it's recommended to wear shoes to go in the sea. Some reviews mentioned that the beach was uncomfortable due to the stones and rocks, but this is a common situation in many beaches in Crete. The view from the balcony overlooking the pool and the sea is spectacular. The beach loungers and umbrellas are good, but be aware that there might be lots of people not staying at the hotel occupying them. Swimming in the sea can be a bit complicated due to the rocks and waves and some reviews mentioned that it's impossible and dangerous to swim at times. Remember to bring suitable shoes and keep in mind that there aren't any trash cans on the beach. Despite some of the challenges, the hotel does its best to provide a great beach experience.

5 Star
Although some guests suggest that the Rethymno Palace might not be a true 5-star hotel, the majority of reviews compliment the hotel on its superb facilities and services. The hotel's prime beachfront location and luxurious amenities make it a great option for a relaxing vacation. Guests appreciate the hotel's restaurants and bars, although some think that the prices for beverages are a bit steep. A few reviewers mention that the hotel is showing some signs of wear and tear. Despite this, the overall impression of the hotel is positive with many guests expressing satisfaction with their stay.

Luxury
Rethymno Palace is a very beautiful, luxurious hotel; marble, brightness and fancy can be seen throughout the building. Guests have had a great stay in this luxurious hotel with some even calling it a five-star experience. However, some have noted that it may not quite meet the standards of a true five-star hotel and have identified specific issues like small rooms, high costs for drinks and fees for room features that guests believe should be included in the price. Despite these concerns, the majority of guests have raved about the beauty and luxury of Rethymno Palace.
