Historic Hotel
In the 1900s, the city of Ashville was known for being the best place in the US to treat tuberculosis due to the climate of the area. The three-story hotel was therefore built to house the families of the patients being treated nearby. Built by registered nurse Anne O’Connell (dubbed the "princess" due to her flowing red hair and charismatic nature) and financed by Doctor Karl von Ruck, the hotel opened its doors in 1924 and was named “Princess Anne” after nurse O'Connell's nickname.

Dog Friendly Hotel
The hotel usually accepts one dog as family pet in one room, a second dog may be possible too. There is additional fee charge, but no limit to the size of the dog. The dog bowls and treats are offered by the hotel. Cats are not allowed.

Location
The Princess Anne Boutique Hotel & Breakfast is located in a convenient and well-located spot within a quiet, residential neighborhood. Guests loved the great location that provided easy access to local stores, restaurants and Asheville attractions. Although the distance to the downtown area was a concern for some, the hotel's proximity to countless eateries and activities more than made up for it. The hotel is in a wonderful walkable location not far from downtown and guests can take a short 10-minute walk or a quick drive to enjoy all that the area has to offer. Guests were impressed by the ample parking options, wonderful location with easy on/off access to major highways and the staff's friendly and accommodating service. All in all, the location is perfect for those who want to stay in a lovely and quiet neighborhood while being close enough to the action for easy exploration of Asheville's top attractions.

Breakfast
The breakfast at Princess Anne Boutique Hotel & Breakfast is truly exceptional with many guests praising the creative and diverse menu that changes daily. The food is delicious, presented beautifully and served in an elegant dining room with white linens and friendly, attentive staff. Guests can choose from several options, including some exotic and unusual dishes and enjoy homemade breads, cakes and cookies. Some even consider it the best hotel breakfast they have ever had. The charcuterie and wine during social hour are also a nice touch. The breakfasts are not your typical continental-style fare and are even made-to-order, while the coffee is superb with extra pods of Nespresso. The breakfast inclusions vary daily and the options offered are splendid with excellent staff that provides good service. Overall, guests recommend not missing the hotel's delicious breakfast, as it is a wonderful way to start the day.

Rooms
The Princess Anne Boutique Hotel & Breakfast is a charming, historic inn located in an old neighborhood. The building is beautiful and its period decor is well-appointed, making the entire property feel authentic and exuding its splendid history. The spacious and cozy accommodations consist of large rooms, comfortable suites and even some that are the size of an apartment. The furnishings are very comfortable and appropriate for a vintage property. The rooms were spotless and the wooden floors have character despite being a little creaky. Some complain about thin walls and noise from upstairs neighbors, but the small intimate feeling of the hotel is wonderful. Breakfast, wine and cheese tray, room, even the elevator was great. While some rooms are a little warm or cold in certain areas, most are comfortable and clean. The staff is excellent and the upgrade of rooms is a great feature. Overall, it's a beautiful and unique historic hotel with personality and a great location.

Beds
The Princess Anne Boutique Hotel & Breakfast offers guests an inviting and relaxing atmosphere, highlighted by the wonderfully comfortable beds. Reviewers agree that the beds are more comfortable than they expected with some calling them the most comfortable they have ever slept on. Rooms are both beautiful and cozy with king and queen size beds to choose from. While some reviewers found the beds a bit softer than they are used to, this only added to the comfort for others. Unfortunately, a few guests did encounter unmade or hard beds and there were some complaints about sofa beds and one crapy bed. However, the overall consensus is that the beds at Princess Anne Boutique Hotel & Breakfast are delightful and provide a wonderful night's sleep.

If you're looking for a clean and tranquil getaway, the Princess Anne Boutique Hotel & Breakfast is a great choice. While some guests found cobwebs and dead bugs in their rooms, the majority of reviews praise the impeccable cleaning service at this charming and historic property. In addition to the cleanliness, many extras are included with the room such as a friendly staff, a great porch and attention to detail in the landscape. With good hospitality, elegance and attention to detail, the Princess Anne Boutique Hotel & Breakfast provides a lovely stay.

Staff
The Princess Anne Boutique Hotel & Breakfast is renowned for their exceptional and friendly staff. Historic
The Princess Anne Boutique Hotel & Breakfast is a beautiful and authentic hundred-year-old property, situated in a historic and quiet neighborhood. The classic hotel combines historic charm with modern elegance, creating a relaxing and comfortable atmosphere for guests. The historic features of the hotel have been nicely preserved and original features have been kept intact. The polite and friendly staff add a thoughtful and elegant touch to the already charming victorian style building. The boutique hotel with a B&B vibe is a great alternative to more contemporary lodgings which lack its unique history and character. Overall, this historic setting offers a super cute and quaint experience for those looking to step back in time and imagine the house and area from older days.
