Historic Hotel

In the 1900s, the city of Ashville was known for being the best place in the US to treat tuberculosis due to the climate of the area. The three-story hotel was therefore built to house the families of the patients being treated nearby. Built by registered nurse Anne O’Connell (dubbed the "princess" due to her flowing red hair and charismatic nature) and financed by Doctor Karl von Ruck, the hotel opened its doors in 1924 and was named “Princess Anne” after nurse O'Connell's nickname.

Although the distance to the downtown area was a concern for some, the hotel's proximity to countless eateries and activities more than made up for it. The hotel is in a wonderful walkable location not far from downtown and guests can take a short 10-minute walk or a quick drive to enjoy all that the area has to offer. Guests were impressed by the ample parking options, wonderful location with easy on/off access to major highways and the staff's friendly and accommodating service. All in all, the location is perfect for those who want to stay in a lovely and quiet neighborhood while being close enough to the action for easy exploration of Asheville's top attractions.
