Some of the downsides include thin walls, basic and dated bedrooms and bathrooms and uncomfortable beds. Additionally, several guests reported maintenance issues, a poor shower and a sofa bed that was less than desirable. On the whole, while the decor may feel cheap and the rooms are smaller than average, the Hotel Van Zandt's rooms are perfect for travelers seeking a place to stay in Austin that won't break the bank.
