Historic Hotel It owns the oldest fruit-bearing grapevine in South Africa, planted in 1781 in the courtyard. The hotel itself was construct in 1780, it was one of the first Dutch and Georgian properties that was built in the town. It was a monumental figure in the town's history. In 1960s, it was earmarked for demolition. Luckily, the square was renovated in the late 1980s which started one of the first conservation projects to preserve the town's history.
