What is the history of the property?
The building is one of the two public Ottoman baths (hammams) of Rethymno, which was leading from the outer walls of the city to the fortress entrance of the Venetian Castle. It was converted from a Venetian mansion right after the occupation of the Venetian Rethymno from the Turks. It was functional until the population exchange in 1925, when it became a traditional family bakery and house. Today it is used as a traditional guesthouse. The choice of its location shows its importance to the Ottoman world.

The central location allows for level walking on mostly traffic-free small streets, making it easy to access all parts of the old town by foot. Despite being centrally situated, the hotel is situated in a quiet and peaceful street, ensuring a comfortable stay. With its location in the heart of the town, the hotel offers guests a unique opportunity to experience the charm and beauty of Rethymno.
