Very Good
Location
The Grand Hotel boasts an exceptional location right by the seafront with direct access to the beach and a beautiful promenade providing a pleasant walking route to local attractions, including Beachy Head on the Sussex coast. The hotel with its regal and stunning building, is perfectly situated for those attending events at the Congress Theatre, as well as the forthcoming airshow. Guests can enjoy lovely walks, watch the airshow or simply relax by the sea. However, some guests have mentioned minor disruptions such as night time roadworks and diversions in the area. Overall, The Grand Hotel is a great choice for those wishing to explore the glorious Eastbourne area with a bonus of having parking spots readily available.

Breakfast
The breakfast at The Grand Hotel receives high praise from guests with many describing it as superb, great and delicious. There are several choices to choose from and a variety of options for each course. The Grand Breakfast is particularly special with plenty of tea and coffee brought to the table by smiling staff. The surroundings of the breakfast area are also beautiful and amazing. Some guests did experience multiple incorrect breakfast orders, chaotic service and poorly re-stocked items. However, generally, the breakfast receives exceptional reviews for its lovely food and service, hot plates and high-quality food standards. While some mention that the breakfast may not be five-star, it is still adequate with lots of choices for food and drink. Overall, the English breakfast receives excellent reviews, but some guests were disappointed with the plastic thin-sliced bread and cold toast. Plantaardige keuzes are also available for those looking for vegan options.

Dinner
The Grand Hotel boasts two excellent restaurants with the Garden Restaurant offering a delightful dining experience with the added touch of a live pianist. Mirabelle restaurant is also a great choice for an evening meal, although the food service can be quite slow. Unfortunately, some guests felt that the dinner menus were uninspiring and not up to par for a 5-star hotel with some describing the service from the restaurant and catering departments as very poor with arrogant and rude waiters. The food in the restaurant was also noted as being very expensive with some guests disappointed with the limited selection on their meal plan. However, there were still some exceptional dining experiences to be had at The Grand Hotel.

Rooms
The Grand Hotel is a gorgeous, old-fashioned building that offers a high standard of rooms with luxury linen and comfortable accommodations. The rooms vary in size, from small and tired to very spacious, but overall, guests found the rooms to be clean and well-serviced. Some guests noted that the rooms were outdated and in need of a refurbishment, although others enjoyed spending a night to experience the old-school charm. While some rooms were noisy or had unpleasant smells, most were quiet and offered lovely views. The hotel offers a range of room categories with some guests receiving free upgrades, although some were disappointed that even the superior rooms lacked certain amenities like a mini-bar or iron. The beds varied in size and firmness with softer mattresses being a common theme, but the duvets and pillows were soft and welcoming. The indoor pool area was a highlight for many. Overall, The Grand Hotel offers comfortable and affordable rooms, although some areas could use improvement, including the decor and the addition of air conditioning, fridges and walk-in showers.

Beds
Despite some mixed reviews about the beds, The Grand Hotel does offer comfortable sleeping arrangements for its guests. Some found the double beds to be small while others wished for a larger bed without having to pay for a bigger room. The softness of the mattress seemed to be an issue for some, while others appreciated the great comfort it provided. Some guests were unhappy with the flatness of the pillows or the outdated state of the beds. However, most guests enjoyed their stay with no problems regarding the bed or pillows. Overall, The Grand Hotel provides comfortable beds but some guests may prefer a firmer mattress or larger bed.

Cleanliness
The Grand Hotel is a stunning location that impressed guests both inside and out. The hotel looks pristine with many guests commenting on how clean it is. Rooms are spacious and clean, offering a comfortable stay. Some reviewers noted that while the room was very old, it was still cleaned to a high standard. The helpful staff contributes to the delightful service, ensuring that their guests have an excellent stay. However, there were some negative comments about the furniture and furnishings needing cleaning and some guests mentioned unpleasant smells in pillowcases and corridors. Nonetheless, The Grand Hotel gets high marks for its cleanliness and is an excellent choice for a comfortable stay.

Staff
The staff at The Grand Hotel are exceptional, going above and beyond to make guests feel welcome and attended to. From the moment of arrival, the friendly and knowledgeable staff create a warm and welcoming atmosphere that is unforgettable. Guests rave about the charm of the staff, who are not only polite and efficient but also genuine and helpful. Whether it's the attentive concierge, the efficient receptionists or the exceptional bar manager, every staff member seems to be well-trained, polite and efficient. Overall, the staff at The Grand Hotel are a highlight for guests who appreciate old-fashioned service with a smile.

Spa
The Grand Hotel's spa facilities received mixed reviews from guests. While some appreciated the steam room and jacuzzi, others wished for a larger space that included a sauna and more loungers. Some complained that the jacuzzi and spa area were too cold for comfort, but others found it fantastic. The pool and sea view room were highlights for some, while others couldn't enjoy the indoor pool and jacuzzi due to the temperature. Massages received high praise, but unfortunately, the sauna was no longer available. Overall, while the spa area was small and may be in need of updating for a five-star hotel, the health club was well-equipped and the staff offered excellent service.

Pool
Guests of The Grand Hotel have varying opinions about the hotel's pool facilities, but one common thread is that there are both indoor and outdoor pools with the heated outdoor pool being a popular feature. The pools are described as a nice size but some guests felt that the area around the pool could use more attention from staff, as unused towels were left lying around. Access to the pools can be difficult at times, according to some reviews. While some guests feel that the indoor pool area could use some updating, others describe it as amazing, along with the indoor gym. Despite some concerns about the size of the pool area, overall guests seem to have enjoyed using the hotel's pools during their stay.

Family
The Grand Hotel offers a warm welcome to families with children, who are well looked-after during their stay. However, there were some reports of young children being left unattended near the buffet, which could be concerning for some parents. The hotel provides a good choice of hot food, which was appreciated by fussy eaters in one family. Despite this, one guest felt that it would have been helpful to have a separate area for dog-owners during breakfast. While there were no specific activities for kids mentioned, families did take advantage of the hotel's amenities. Unfortunately, there were some reports of children running around and making noise, which may disturb other guests. Overall, The Grand Hotel is a good choice for families looking for a comfortable and welcoming stay in the area.

5 Star
The Grand Hotel is a five-star hotel that definitely lives up to its expectations with its sheer scale and presence providing a true five-star experience. While some guests felt that certain aspects, such as the room size, did not match up to other five-star hotels, the overall facilities, staff, breakfast and rooms were described as perfect. However, some reviews criticized the spa area for being small and outdated for a five-star hotel. Despite some mixed opinions, the hotel and staff were thoroughly deserving of the five-star rating. The breakfast was truly five-star, though some guests felt that other aspects did not match up to this level. Overall, The Grand Hotel can be described as a cross between a five-star hotel and an upmarket old folks' home, providing an experience worthy of its five-star rating.
