It takes its name from the hundreds of women burned at the stake as witches on Castlehill during the 16th and 17th centuries. The Witchery occupies a substantial 16th century building, Boswell’s Court, named after a former resident, James Boswell. The location cannot be beaten with guests describing it as fabulous and outstanding. Even better, the hotel is walking distance from the city centre, putting you in the heart of all the action. The Witchery by the Castle is a stunning hotel in the best location imaginable.

Rooms
The Witchery by the Castle is a travel destination that boasts a beautiful historical building in an unbeatable location. Guests have raved about the exquisitely decorated rooms with many describing them as totally unique, expansive and private. The Library room was a standout, featuring stunning facilities and a wonderfully decadent ambience. Although there were some minor setbacks such as the lack of a bar to relax in before a meal, overall, the historical elements of the hotel far surpassed those of other hotels in Edinburgh. The experience of staying at The Witchery by the Castle was described as out of this world with a theatrical and unusual setting that was unforgettable. Despite some minor service issues like a long wait for dinner and screwed in shower amenities, guests left feeling dazed by the stunning interior and hope to return to try a different room. The suite in the heart of Edinburgh was deemed a unique and historical experience not to be missed.
