If you're looking to experience Galle in the afternoons and evenings, Tamarind Hill by Asia Leisure is the perfect location for you. The historic buildings will give you a truly colonial feeling. Although it's a bit out of the way from the fort, it's close to Galle and the beach and only a short drive away from the busy port. The location is nice and you have great access to vetted tuk-tuk drivers who can zip you into the fort and back every day in just five minutes. It's nice to be away from the city and even though there isn't anything interesting nearby, you'll come across a lot of unique animals like peacocks, iguanas, cats and other small birds and animals on the way. The hotel is situated in a perfect spot as per some reviewers, just five minutes away from the Galle Fort by TukTuk. Unfortunately, there is no beach within walking distance.
