Very Good
Location
Located on a hill with stunning views of the sea, the Rock Hotel boasts an excellent location for sightseeing and accessing top attractions. Visitors can easily reach the cable car station and the nature park atop the rock, as well as Main Street and nearby botanical gardens. Though the hotel is a bit of a climb from town, guests appreciate the convenient bus stop and taxis available nearby. Meanwhile, the swimming pool is a short walk away, but the spectacular views from the balcony make it well worth the effort. Overall, the location and views are the standout features of this classic, historic property.

Breakfast
The Rock Hotel offers a wonderful breakfast experience for its guests. The food selection is excellent with fresh fruits and many sorts of cakes available. There is a larger cafetiere of coffee available for two people and there is an excellent variety of food and drinks. There are plenty of pastries and cakes, as well as cooked breakfast and fruits. The breakfast layout is wonderful with a large varied range of food to choose from and the quality of the hot breakfast is excellent. The restaurant meal is first class, served well and with little delay. Despite finding out that guests must pay for breakfast, the range of items available compares favorably with other breakfast options in Gibraltar. However, some reviews suggest that the breakfast layout could be more relaxing and the menu could offer more choices. Additionally, staff have been observed clearing away before the designated time. Overall, the Rock Hotel is an excellent choice for guests who want to experience a fabulous breakfast with a huge choice of foods.

Dinner
The dinner at the Rock Hotel is a mixed bag according to guest reviews. There were some standout dishes like the wild mushroom pasta parcels and scallops that were described as delicious. However, some guests found the seabass and fillet steaks to be mediocre while others had poor experiences with their meals, like the babaganoush starter that was tasteless or the tough steak and ale pie. On the upside, the evening chefs were praised for their culinary skills and the dinner experience in the restaurant was described as excellent with great food, wine and service. The prices for dinner, however, were a point of contention for some guests with some finding them ridiculous, especially the Sunday lunch which cost around £35 per person. The bar staff were criticized for being slow and not having a good selection of drinks. The breakfast selection was also described as poor. However, some guests did enjoy their evening bar meals, particularly the fish and chips. Overall, the food at the hotel was described as a little uninspiring but okay.

Rooms
The Rock Hotel offers a range of rooms, some of which offer stunning views of the sea and coastline. Guests appreciate the spacious rooms with comfortable beds, clean bedding and pillows. The hotel provides a water boiler and tea cups in the rooms for added convenience. While some guests found their rooms lovely with beautiful decor and layouts, others found their rooms lacking in TLC and outdated. However, the reasonable prices reflect the faded grandeur of the hotel. Some rooms have balconies with unrivaled views, though some noise from adjacent rooms cannot be helped. The bathrooms were spacious and clean, but some were tired and outdated. Overall, guests enjoyed the size and cleanliness of the rooms, but some may need improvement.

Beds
Rock Hotel guests consistently praised the comfortable beds and pillows with many highlighting their great night's sleep. However, some guests were unhappy with the two single beds pushed together in some rooms, which made for an uncomfortable experience. Additionally, some mentioned noisy corridors and soft, sagging beds. Overall, guests enjoyed the comfortable and spacious rooms with amenities such as tea and coffee facilities and separate seating areas. While not all guests enjoyed the pillows provided, all mentioned clean sheets and towels.

Cleanliness
The Rock Hotel is a beautiful, stylish hotel that is exceptionally clean and well-maintained. The hotel stands out for its spotless cleanliness and tidy environs. The staff are great with helpful reception and porters and guests will feel at home in this beautiful, friendly establishment. While some rooms are old and could use some refurbishment, they are immaculate, comfortable and come with clean bed sheets and towels. Some guests complained about poor cleanliness, rude staff and small, old hairdryers, but these are exceptions. The hotel is a perfect place to relax and enjoy a fantastic break in comfortable and clean surroundings.

Staff
The staff at Rock Hotel have been consistently praised by guests for their exceptional service and friendliness. From helpful front desk staff to attentive restaurant servers, the majority of guests have described the staff as amazing, lovely, accommodating and friendly. While there were some occasional issues with slow service and a few less-than-stellar experiences with rude or dismissive staff members, the vast majority of guests had nothing but positive things to say about the staff at Rock Hotel. Some staff members were singled out for their excellent service with special mentions given to Abdullah and Kevin. Despite some minor imperfections, the staff at Rock Hotel have been described as second to none - a credit to the hotel and the best part of guests' stays.

Pool
The Rock Hotel boasts a pool area with stunning views of the nearby mountain. While some guests note that it is located across the main road in the botanic gardens, many others found it to be a welcome break from their sightseeing activities. The salt water pool is a great place to chill out, but some guests wished it was open longer hours for families to enjoy. While the pool looked very nice, it was unfortunately not yet open when some guests stayed. However, some guests did experience noise issues from a pool bar party that kept them awake past 3am. While the pool is not heated and sadly closed from October to April, the majority of guests enjoyed the pool area and its picturesque location.

4 Star
If you're looking for a lovely hotel with a colonial feel and fantastic views, the Rock Hotel might be just what you're after. The decor and layout of the hotel are very nice and well-kept and the staff are brilliant - you won't find better service anywhere else. It's a great spot for spending time with friends and the location is perfect for exploring the area. While some guests have expressed concerns about the value for money with a few areas needing a little attention, overall this historic and iconic hotel is a lovely place to stay. However, there are a few guests who did not find the hotel experience to be up to a four star level, so keep that in mind when booking.

Luxury
Looking for a luxurious stay that's still affordable? Look no further than the Rock Hotel. This smart 1930s hotel is beautiful, friendly and full of history. While the grandeur may be slightly faded in some areas, the reasonable price of the rooms reflects this. Plus with a beautiful and grand atmosphere, this hotel is truly something special. And with a super luxurious feel throughout, it's the perfect home away from home for a relaxing getaway.
