The Icehotel is made completely out of ice and every year hosts art exhibitions made of ice and snow.
Torne river provides the amount of ice needed in order for the hotel to be constructed every winter. During the summer, the whole structure melts into the river where it came from, until the following winter that artists from all over the word come in order to buid the hotel again, from scratch.

Guest Reviews
Icehotel is an exceptional place to stay with its beautiful location and impressive ice rooms. Despite being in the middle of nowhere, there are plenty of lovely activities and attractions in the surrounding area, including a good Sami museum and the opportunity to feed reindeer nearby. The staff in the restaurant are lovely and entrance to the icehotels is included when staying in Icehotel. The hotel is a 20-minute drive from Kiruna and there is a small village nearby with a supermarket. The location is simply stunning with the hotel situated directly on the lake. Guests can explore the cold rooms and other areas of the hotel until 6 pm daily when staying in a warm room. The calm atmosphere and comfortable bedding make for a quality night's sleep. Some guests found the walk between the parking lot, reception, restaurant and rooms to be quite long since they are in separate buildings. However, this is a small price to pay for such a fantastic location. Overall, Icehotel is definitely worth a visit and provides a beautiful setting for a memorable stay.

Icehotel's dinner options have received high praise from its guests. The ice menu dinner was particularly excellent, while the Homestead provided a great option for kids. Despite a less than stellar dessert, the meals were generally good, even accommodating for dietary restrictions like gluten-free options. The restaurant's service was described as friendly, accommodating and with knowledgeable staff offering recommendations. The variety of options could be improved with more vegetarian and chicken choices for lunch and dinner. However, the overall consensus was that the dinner and location were superb - a must-try experience.

Guests loved the spacious and clean accommodations with some mentioning the underfloor heating and awesome showers. The warm chalets were particularly comfortable, while the ice rooms were fun to look at. The hotel also has a rustic charm with some guests describing the rooms as housed in outdated or rustic cottages. Although some of the normal rooms were deemed overpriced, the architectural and sculptural rooms were worth the extra bucks. Despite some minor issues like outdated toilets, showers with shower curtains, television only in Swedish and less equipped kitchenettes, guests generally praised the room sizes and comfort. Overall, it's a great place to stay and explore the impressive ice rooms until 6 pm.

If you're planning on driving to Icehotel, there's good news - there are plenty of parking spaces available free of charge. However, some guests have mentioned that the parking area may be a bit small, so it's best to arrive early to secure your spot. While there are no parking spaces directly next to the rooms, guests are able to park nearby without much trouble. Unfortunately, there are no options for charging electric cars at the hotel. While there were a few negative comments about the signage around the hotel being confusing, overall it seems that finding a parking spot at Icehotel should be hassle-free.

Some guests thought the price was a bit high, but overall they were satisfied with the experience. The hotel room cleanliness could have been better according to a few guests, but it wasn't too bad. It's worth noting that some amenities like the TV were only in Swedish, which may be an issue for non-Swedish speaking guests. There were some minor complaints about noise and lack of amenities like a fridge or power outlets near the bed. However, these issues didn't stop most guests from enjoying their stay.
