The design, location and views are outstanding and the property is huge, allowing you to hang with your bike and take in the scenery. While some guests noted that the beach is not great and orientation can be windy, others found it to be paradisiacal and greatly enjoyed exploring the Mayakoba area by bike. Just be sure to confirm taxi prices with the hotel before agreeing to a ride to nearby attractions. Nevertheless, overall, Banyan Tree Mayakoba is an excellent choice for its location, villas and amenities, offering an impressive experience to suit your preferences, just outside Playa del Carmen.

The beach club is a must-visit with its great atmosphere and chilled-out vibe. Although some guests were disappointed by the construction work affecting the pool experience, the new pool and Sands restaurant have received glowing reviews.

For some guests, the rooms/villa pools were even nicer than the beach, which is also well-maintained with seaside pools. However, while some found the pool area and bathrooms to be great, others complained that the seating areas were filthy.

Overall, the private villas are huge and the restaurants are great. Despite some minor issues with the pool water not being clean for some guests, the beautiful pool and irresistible ceviches at the Sands restaurant make up for it.
