The hotel is right in the center of downtown Portland and within walking distance to many attractions, including the Art Museum, Providence Park and Powell's Bookstore. Some guests mentioned the area around the hotel could be problematic with homeless individuals camping in tents and lying on sidewalks, making them feel unsafe. However, other guests stated that despite the presence of street people, it was still safe to walk around the downtown area. The hotel's central location allows guests to walk or scooter around and it's convenient to shopping, dining and transportation. With spacious rooms and excellent staff, the Royal Sonesta Portland Downtown provides a perfect location for exploring Portland by foot.
