Location
The Royal Pier hotel is the ideal location for a seaside getaway in England. With its friendly staff and great location right on the Sandown Pier and beach, it's no surprise that guests rave about it. Some even say that the location was perfect, amazing, or excellent. With sea view rooms and easy access to shops, restaurants and bus stops, this hotel is in a convenient location for travelers. Guests also appreciate the proximity to the pier and amusement arcades, making it a great place for families with children. The hotel is beautifully situated opposite the beach and highlights the great views. The location is perfect for a walk along the promenade or cliff walk. Guests particularly loved the seating in the front of hotel, which allows for a perfect view. Whether you're looking for a short break or a longer stay, the Royal Pier hotel's position is perfect for a seaside town experience in England.

Breakfast
The breakfast experience at Royal Pier seems to be a mixed bag according to guest reviews. Some guests found the breakfast to be excellent with plenty of choices and quick service. Others, however, had complaints about the poor quality of the food, lack of cleanliness of the utensils and limited vegetarian options. Despite the inconsistencies, many guests still enjoyed the lovely view of the sea during breakfast and appreciated the friendly service of the breakfast staff. Overall, while some had positive experiences and praised the good value for money, others found the breakfast to be lacking and opted to skip it altogether.

Rooms
The Royal Pier hotel offers guests a range of room options, including those with sea views and balconies. Newly refurbished rooms provide a modern touch, while others are in need of updates and are described as outdated or old fashioned. Some guests have also noted issues with cleanliness, including small bathrooms and mouldy showers. However, there are many positive comments about comfortable beds, clean rooms and spacious areas. The hotel also offers basic amenities such as en suite bathrooms and desks. Overall, the hotel could benefit from some renovation and attention to cleanliness, but it has all of the basics covered and guests can enjoy the lovely surroundings and views.

Beds
The Royal Pier hotel has beds that are a mixed bag according to guest reviews. Some guests reported uncomfortable and poor quality beds with a few even mentioning broken or saggy mattresses. Others found the beds quite comfortable, although a few complained of lumpy mattresses and springs digging into their backs. Some guests also mentioned the size of the beds with a few finding them too small for their liking. However, there were a few positive reviews regarding the beds with guests finding them comfortable and enjoying lovely sea views from their rooms. It seems that while the hotel has made efforts to refurbish some rooms and improve the bedding, there is still room for improvement when it comes to the comfort of their mattresses.

Cleanliness
The cleanliness of the Royal Pier hotel seems to be a mixed bag with some guests reporting dirty and even filthy rooms, bathrooms and showers with mould, limescale, bacteria and hair. Some areas were dusty, stained and had old bits of paper lying around. Some guests felt that the hotel needs updating and attention to detail in cleaning. However, others found the rooms to be clean and comfortable with great sea views and the pool and hot tub were very clean and nice to use. Despite some areas needing improvement, guests appreciated the friendly staff, good location and the fact that certain amenities, such as the pool, were clean and maintained.

Staff
The Royal Pier hotel boasts a team of staff who are nothing short of welcoming and helpful. Guests mention the friendly and accommodating staff in different departments, including reception, bar, housekeeping and waitstaff. Even the housekeeping team is mentioned, despite an isolated comment about them being idle. The hotel staff are focused on ensuring guests have a memorable experience with one waiter even giving tips on sightseeing. Maria on reception is singled out for outstanding customer service. The staff are accommodating to guests' individual needs, even making the effort to learn the guests' names in coach tours. The service is outstanding with guests citing efficiency, professionalism and funny banter from staff. Special mentions go to staff members Shauna and Sara for their exceptional service. The friendly staff has left a lasting impression on guests, making even the briefest stay feel like home.

Wi-Fi
The Royal Pier hotel unfortunately does not provide WiFi facilities in the guest rooms. Some guests reported that they were only able to access FM radio through their TVs and had no movie options. The only available WiFi access was limited to the reception area, but the signal was reported to be poor. Some guests also mentioned that there was no parking available at the hotel. Although the hotel cannot be blamed for the poor WiFi signal throughout Sandown, some guests were disappointed with the lack of internet available in the room. However, guests did report positive experiences with the staff, location and cleanliness of the hotel.

Pool
The Royal Pier hotel boasts a great range of amenities for guests, including a swimming pool and jacuzzi available for use. Many guests enjoyed a daily dip in the heated and clean pool with some even having it to themselves at times. However, some guests noted that the pool was small and cold and there were limited opportunities to use it as it shut early and was only open during the day. Additionally, it was noted that guests had to pay to use the hot tub and hire towels. Despite some opportunities for service improvement, many guests still rated the pool and jacuzzi as a bonus feature of the hotel. Overall, having a swimming pool for guests was seen as a great addition, particularly for families with children who loved the pool.

Beach
The Royal Pier hotel is the ultimate beachfront accommodation. Facing directly onto the sandy, glorious beach of Sandown, it offers guests fantastic views out to sea - especially during breakfast time! With a location next to the pier, there are plenty of options for restaurants, bars and amusements all within easy walking distance. Families with children will love the convenience of being able to entertain them in any weather and the hotel is perfectly situated for this - just steps from the door. The lady who met us upon arrival was absolutely lovely, allowing us to leave our bags in reception and even giving us an early key so we could explore the town before our room was ready. The location truly is the standout feature here and it can't be faulted in any way. It's easily accessible via train from Ryde and with a supermarket just a few minutes away on foot, everything a guest could need is right at their fingertips. Overall, the Royal Pier hotel is a fantastic choice for anyone looking for a great beachfront stay.

Family
If you're looking for a family-friendly hotel with lots of options for kids, Royal Pier is a great choice. The pool is a big hit with young ones and the spacious family rooms offer nice views, including some with balconies on the seafront. It's perfect for families who need entertainment options regardless of the weather. While there wasn't any advertised entertainment, guests still had a fabulous time with their children. Additionally, the hotel staff was very accommodating to those with special needs, including those in a coach party. Couples with very young children found it to be an ideal place for a night away. On the downside, some families were not happy with their overall experience. But, based on the positive feedback, Royal Pier is definitely worth recommending to others.

Accessible
The Royal Pier hotel had some major accessibility issues reported by guests with disabilities. Despite confirming the lift was working prior, it was out of order throughout their stay, which ruined their holiday. The hotel showed no concern and failed to provide a solution. Additionally, there were no parking spaces for disabled people and guests had to park quite far. Breakfast times were inflexible and some guests had to walk up and down several steps to access their room or the bathroom sink. Non-compliant light fittings in the bathroom, a frightening elevator and a bathtub that was too high for easy stepping down added to the problems. The lack of disabled parking space was a significant issue mentioned several times in the reviews. Overall, accessibility was a major area of concern for the disabled guests.
