While the location is a bit remote and access is difficult, guests highly recommend hiring a car to drive instead of taking expensive taxis. The hotel staff is great and the beach is beautiful, although swimming can be difficult due to rocks. The hotel sits right on the shoreline and there is a small pier with snorkeling. The hotel's location is perfect, albeit a bit far from the downtown Tulum area, which can be reached within a 10-15 minute drive. The only downside is really just the access from the main road. Overall, Alea Tulum is an extraordinary getaway for those who want to escape the crowds and enjoy a peaceful Caribbean vacation.
