Very Good
Location
The Royal Hotel is a great choice for those looking for a stay in a beautiful Victorian building in a superb location. With views of the sea and only a short walk to the beach and town center, it's a convenient spot to explore Ventnor and the Isle of Wight. The hotel has ample parking and lovely grounds to enjoy. The staff are also very helpful and the food and facilities are good. While there may be road works nearby, the location is still fantastic and the IOW is a beautiful place to visit. Overall, The Royal Hotel offers a great location and period charm for a memorable stay.

Breakfast
The breakfast at The Royal Hotel was exceptional and offered an excellent range of options. Guests raved about the delicious and well-cooked food and the breakfast was deemed excellent value for money. There was a good selection of items with generous portions and the service was of "old school" quality. Despite one mention of poor quality eggs, the majority of guests had a fantastic experience and felt that the breakfast food was above average. Guests who had booked online without breakfast or dinner included felt like second-class guests, but overall, the breakfast received high praise.

Dinner
The Royal Hotel is known for its exceptional dining experience according to guest reviews. The restaurant dinner menu is exciting and the food is of good quality and beautifully served. The impressive dining hall and menu provide a grand setting for a lovely meal in the geranium. However, some guests were disappointed with the high-end prices of dinner not always matching their expectations and the portions could be a little small. One guest even mentioned the Seven menu being advertised throughout the hotel but not available upon request. Despite this, the majority of guests had a fantastic dining experience with amazing food and professional service from the staff. Highlights from the dinner menu included cheese souffle and perfectly cooked lemon sole. Unfortunately, some guests encountered issues with booking an evening meal and felt like second-class guests for not booking breakfast/dinner included. Overall, The Royal Hotel provides guests with an unforgettable dining experience in a grand setting.

Rooms
The Royal Hotel is a charming period property offering comfortable accommodation with traditional touches. While some rooms were a bit dated and could use some refurbishment, they were still clean and comfortable and many offered lovely views of the garden or sea. Guests appreciated the elegant dining room and very comfortable beds, although some mentioned issues with noise and poor lighting in their rooms. Additionally, the bathrooms were a mixed bag with some guests enjoying the Edwardian-style fittings while others found them outdated and in need of improvement. Overall, while there were a few criticisms, the Royal Hotel is a solid choice for travelers looking for a cozy, traditional experience.

Cleanliness
The Royal Hotel has received high praise from their guests for their excellent standards in all aspects of the hotel, including cleanliness. Visitors can expect a comfortable and clean stay with the convenience of the location making it an ideal choice. While some guests have noted that the corridors were a bit gloomy and certain rooms were a little dated, this didn't detract from the overall positive experience. However, there were some isolated incidents where guests found a few stains on the carpet or towels within their rooms. Despite these minor occurrences, the general consensus is that the Royal Hotel prides itself on maintaining a very clean and tidy environment for their guests.

Staff
The Royal Hotel has a reputation for excellent service and that's thanks in large part to its charming and capable staff. Without exception, the staff here are friendly, helpful and attentive to guest needs, whether it's accommodating a friend with mobility issues, recharging electric bikes in secure facilities or simply making great recommendations for things to see and do in the area. Many guests have commented on how welcoming and professional the receptionists and bar staff are with some even singling out specific employees like the "fantastic" Mervin. And despite a few minor hiccups, most visitors say they couldn't be happier with the service they received. Overall, if you're looking for a relaxing getaway where you can truly unwind, The Royal Hotel is an excellent choice thanks in no small part to its super-friendly staff.

Pool
The Royal Hotel boasts a beautiful outdoor pool that is perfect for cooling off in the summer months. However, some guests have mentioned that the pool is not heated and therefore too cold to use in the winter. The hotel also does not have a gym, sauna or steam-room for guests to use during the colder season. Nonetheless, the pool area is stunning with lovely furnishings and towels provided. Some guests have enjoyed lounging on the patio and exploring the pretty gardens around the pool. However, families with children seem to be taking over the pool area during the afternoons making it difficult for couples looking for some relaxation. But despite this, guests still believe that the Royal Hotel is a wonderful choice for a stay, especially with its inviting pool and scenic outdoor facilities.
