Location
If you're looking for a hotel surrounded by stunning scenery, look no further than Hanbury Manor Marriott Hotel & Country Club. The original part of the building is absolutely marvelous with a great view of the golf course. It's situated in the country, so you can expect a quite and peaceful location. While it may be a little bit hard to get to, the location is still convenient and a short drive (taxi) into the small town of Ware delivered us to the train station with a direct link to the centre of London - it's only 30 minutes away! However, some rooms may be quite far from the main building or parking, so do keep that in mind. Overall, this hotel has a fabulous location, great surroundings and lovely grounds.

Breakfast
The breakfast experience at Hanbury Manor Marriott Hotel & Country Club is a highlight for many guests. The buffet-style breakfast offers the best selection with plenty of options available until 11am. Fresh fruits, pastries and a wide variety of well-cooked dishes are well presented and looked attractive. The coffee machine with specialty coffee is a great addition, however, there were guests who complained about the queue being 30 minutes long. While the quality of the breakfast was second to none, some guests noted that the scrambled eggs and sausages from the buffet were raw or barely warm. Some guests also felt that the tea and coffee should have been served to the table rather than being self-service due to the busy nature of the hotel. Overall, the majority of the reviews were positive and guests raved about the brilliant selection and variety, delicious and fresh breakfast options. Additionally, guests who tried the champagne afternoon tea were pleased with the lovely selection and choice. Lastly, the proximity to several golf courses makes the hotel a great base for golfers.

Dinner
The Hanbury Manor Marriott Hotel & Country Club has received mixed reviews about their dinner options. While some guests found the food to be delicious and of a high standard, others were disappointed by the limited menu and the lack of vegetarian and vegan options. The main restaurant being shut and the unsuitability of Vardon's restaurant for dinner left many guests with only the sports bar as an option where only fast food was available. The portions, though tasty, were very small for the price and the evening meals were found to be overpriced. Service was sometimes slow and the setting was considered inappropriate and the interior design was considered bland and boring. Despite the wine receiving high praise, the expensive prices and the rude staff in dining areas left some feeling that the food was unreasonably priced. Overall, there were mixed feelings about the dinner options at the hotel and guests feel that more variety of food and pricing options are needed.

Rooms
The Hanbury Manor Marriott Hotel & Country Club is a beautiful old house with stunning surroundings, but some areas of the hotel are tired and in need of updating. While some guests found the bedrooms spacious, clean and comfortable, others experienced dated furniture, faded curtains and poor design if their room was far from reception. Most guests agreed that the rooms could do with updating and some pointed out issues such as holes in the bedding, curtains falling down and outdated taps. The hotel's freezers have been reported to be faulty on some occasions, causing rooms to become uncomfortably cold or hot. Despite some negative feedback about the rooms, there were also many positive comments with some guests describing their rooms as phenomenal, spacious and beautifully clean. Finally, while some guests enjoyed lovely views from their rooms, others warned of potential noise issues from deliveries or vans coming and going.

Beds
At Hanbury Manor Marriott Hotel & Country Club, guests had mixed opinions about the beds. Some guests raved about the lovely, large and comfortable beds, claiming they were the most comfortable mattresses they had ever slept on. However, some guests in the 4-person rooms found the beds to be small. Unfortunately, there were some negative experiences with broken beds, scratched leather and uncomfortable mattresses with visible springs. A few guests had to remove the bed sheets entirely due to discomfort, while others found the mattresses too firm or too soft. Despite these occasional issues, many guests praised the overall comfort of the beds and mentioned that the hotel should update them for an even better night's sleep. Some guests even reported having two mattresses pushed together for added comfort.

Cleanliness
If you're looking for a luxurious stay at Hanbury Manor Marriott Hotel & Country Club, you may want to consider the reviews on hotel cleanliness before booking. While some guests praised the cleanliness of the rooms, other reviews mentioned dirty floors and dated bathrooms with marked or broken tiles. Some rooms were also described as tired and needing investment. The dining room was mentioned as needing a revamp. However, many guests did mention that the rooms were spacious and clean and some even said it was perfect. Overall, it seemed like the cleanliness of the hotel was hit or miss. Some guests loved the lovely toiletries, fantastic pool and spa, while others were disappointed by the lack of tidiness in corridors and outside entrances. But, if you appreciate an old manor house feel and are ok with some tired furniture, you might enjoy a stay at Hanbury Manor Marriott Hotel & Country Club.

Staff
The staff at Hanbury Manor Marriott Hotel & Country Club have been praised by multiple guests for their exceptional service and friendliness. Many reviewers commented that nothing was ever too much trouble for the staff, who were always attentive and accommodating. However, a few guests noted slow service in the bar and some encountered rude or unhelpful staff in the restaurant or housekeeping. Overall, the majority of guests found the staff to be lovely, professional and helpful. Notably, some staff members like Sophia, Rodrigo, Philip, Eunice and Ildiko were exceptional and further enhanced the customer service experience. Reception staff received mixed reviews with some guests finding them unprofessional or useless. Despite a few negative experiences, most guests agreed that the staff and facilities were brilliant and the attentive staff at the spa and treatments were a highlight for many.

Spa
If you're in need of a relaxing getaway, look no further than Hanbury Manor Marriott Hotel & Country Club. The hotel's spa is a great place to unwind with excellent facilities and friendly staff. The pool and spa are particularly great, although it can get quite crowded at times. The spa area may seem a bit small for such a large hotel, but it's still worth a visit. The jacuzzi could be bigger, but the clean and lovely spa is a great place to spend an afternoon. In the evenings, the spa is particularly peaceful with fewer people around. The only downside is that some guests hog sun loungers despite signs telling them not to. Overall, the spa at Hanbury Manor is a convenient and good option for a lovely and relaxing getaway.

Pool
The Hanbury Manor Marriott Hotel & Country Club's pool received mixed reviews from guests. Many appreciated its cleanliness and inviting appearance, particularly given its early opening time of 6am. The availability of designated times for adults-only swimming was also praised. However, some commented that children dominated the spa pool and that the pool area was in need of renovation or more thorough cleaning. Still, others found the pool to be of a great size and not too crowded with a lovely atmosphere overall. The only consistent complaint was that the jacuzzi was quite small. Despite these mixed reactions, guests are allowed to use the pool and sauna and may find it to be a great option for families and those looking to stay active during their stay.

Family
Families looking for a luxurious country retreat with plenty of activities need look no further than the Hanbury Manor Marriott Hotel & Country Club. While the pool has designated child-free hours, it is perfect for families to splash around in during other times. The hotel provides a warm welcome to all, including younger guests, but some reviewers have suggested that the dinner menu could have a few more options for kids. The spa may not be suitable for children, but luckily there are other designated times for children to enjoy in the pool. However, if you have especially sleepy teenagers, it's worth noting that breakfast is only available at 8:00am. All in all, Hanbury Manor may not be the most family-friendly hotel on offer, but it's perfect for a grown-up, girls weekend away.

Golf
The Hanbury Manor Marriott Hotel & Country Club is a stunning property with beautiful grounds and lovely architecture, situated in a great location for golf enthusiasts. The golf facilities are excellent with outstanding courses and great views over the landscape. However, there are some drawbacks, including a noisy and crowded restaurant, large groups of golfers and expensive green fees. Additionally, non-golf players may find some areas inaccessible, as some parts of the hotel are reserved for members only. But for golf lovers, this is definitely the place to stay for a great golfing experience. Plus, the hotel offers fabulous amenities such as a refreshing pool and a healthy selection of snacks. Keep in mind that despite the proximity to several golf courses, there are no discounts for hotel guests, so golf can be quite pricey.

5 Star
Hanbury Manor Marriott Hotel & Country Club boasts an impressive standard. Guests describe the hotel as lovely and feeling more like a 5-star establishment. While some reviewers had a good experience overall, they note it wasn't what they expected for a 5-star hotel. Some guests were disappointed with certain aspects, such as the phone ringing endlessly without answer and a £5 tray charge for room service. Despite these downsides, people did enjoy the front desk service, but the lack of certain services and facilities left some feeling that the hotel fell short of 5-star status. While breakfast was okay, some felt it did not quite match the expectations of a 5-star hotel. Overall, a good stay but some areas could use improvement to reach true 5-star caliber.
