The Stanley Hotel opened in 1909 and the first ghost report was in the 1950s. It is said it is the ghost of the housekeeper who died in an explosion short after the hotel's opening. Also, there have been rumors of children's ghosts laughing in the areas of the hotel and the wife's owner spirit playing the piano.

The spirit of Marilyn Monroe, who visited the hotel during the first Academy Awards, has been reported by guests and hotel staff in the poolside bar and at the suite where she once stayed. Also the spirit of Montgomery Clif, who also stayed once at the hotel, is rumored to be witnessed at room 928.
1886 Crescent Hotel and Spa is considered to be America's most haunted hotel. Some of the ghosts haunting this hotel are an Irish stonemason, that died while the hotel was being built in 1885 where now is the room 218, another one is a former cancer patient's ghost, from the era that the hotel was a cancer hospital. Rumour has it that Civil War Colonel Jesse Driskill, the original owner of the hotel, lost the hotel in a poker game and his spirit still wanders around the building. Also, on the 5th floor there is a portrait of the 4-year-old Samantha Houston, daughter of a U.S. Senator, who is said to have tripped down the big staircase and died in 1887.

Oxford Castle was built by William the Conqueror in 1071 and was later turned into a Victorian prison before becoming the luxury boutique hotel that it is today, and it is believed to be one of the most haunted buildings in the United Kingdom. Mary Blandy was hanged at this castle in 1752 after poisoning her father with arsenic and her spirit is said to still wander around its premises. When in the early 1900s Simon Benson bought and renovated the almost crumbling building that is the hotel we know today, no one knew that his presence would linger about for many decades to come. Benson's ghost, dressed in a black suit, is said to be found in meeting rooms or showing his playful side by knocking over the guests' glasses. Two more ghosts are said to wander in this hotel, that of a young boy and that of a woman.
A favourite spot for the seekers of paranormal activity, The Red Lion Inn has its own ghost stories to tell. Room 301 is said to be the most haunted room in the hotel, since guests have reported seeing various ghosts wandering inside, such as a young girl carrying flowers or a man in a top hat.
