Hanthana House offers a serene and picturesque escape nestled in the Hanthana mountain range, providing breathtaking views and a tranquil retreat from the bustling center of Kandy. Its remote location requires navigating challenging roads, but guests find the peaceful setting and stunning vistas to be a worthwhile trade-off for the tranquility it provides.
The culinary offerings at Hanthana House are a highlight, with breakfast praised for its delicious, generous portions that blend local and international flavors, allowing guests to savor traditional Sri Lankan cuisine alongside familiar Western dishes. Dinner continues this culinary excellence with home-cooked meals that highlight authentic Sri Lankan flavors, served in a welcoming, family atmosphere. Although slightly pricier than local options, many guests find the quality and intimate dining experience justifies the cost.
Accommodations at Hanthana House are consistently impressive, noted for their cleanliness, comfort, and spaciousness. The rooms feature modern amenities and large balconies with stunning views, enhancing the serene atmosphere of the hotel. Guests appreciate the well-maintained facilities adorned with beautiful wooden furniture and the homely touch provided by attentive hosts.
Cleanliness is a standout attribute of Hanthana House, with guests consistently noting the property as super clean and well-maintained. The staff contribute significantly to the pleasant experience, being praised for their friendliness and genuine care, ensuring every guest feels welcome and well-assisted throughout their stay.
While the Wi-Fi can be inconsistent, particularly in certain areas of the property, communal areas often provide better connectivity. The comfortable beds are another notable aspect, ensuring a restful night’s sleep with their king-size mattresses and clean linens.
Though Hanthana House exceeds typical three-star expectations through its attentive service and excellent accommodations, dining options remain primarily on-site, with some visitors noting the need for slight adjustment in value perception, particularly concerning dinner prices. Despite these minor critiques, the location's secluded charm and quality service make Hanthana House a highly recommended choice for a tranquil and enchanting Sri Lankan getaway.
