The Pavilions Amsterdam, The Toren consists of two separate buildings, the Main House and the Private House, both of which date back to the 1618 and used to belong to families of merchants. During World War II, the buildings were used as a safehouse, protecting 20 people who were chased by the Nazis. The Toren family purchased the buildings in 1968 and turned them into a hotel, which was then sold to the Pavilions Hotels & Resorts boutique hotel group in 2016.
