The breakfast at DoubleTree by Hilton Cheltenham has received a variety of reviews from guests. While some have described it as good, others found it to be too expensive. The breakfast options were generally well-liked with many praising the pleasant atmosphere and variety of choices available. However, there were a few guests who were disappointed with the poor selection or the fact that they had to pay extra for certain items. Some guests also noted that the breakfast service could be disorganised at times with long wait times or dirty tables. Some guests were happy with the food quality and selection and even describe it as exceeding expectations with excellent options like steak and ale pie and chocolate tart. Guests who dined in the restaurant particularly enjoyed their meal, while others had poor experiences with the service, waiting times and limited menu. Some guests even had to leave a wake earlier than planned to find that the restaurant was closed before advertised hours. The atmosphere of the restaurant was praised for being great, even though some of the bar snacks were better than the dinner menu. Some guests also found the food overpriced, yet others could only describe the food as delicious and a great value for the money. Despite variations in experiences, the restaurant staff were consistently praised for being prompt and amazing, even though the service could sometimes be terrible.

Rooms
The DoubleTree by Hilton Cheltenham has a mix of reviews when it comes to the rooms. Some guests have found certain rooms and the spa area needing updates with visible water damage and a tired appearance. However, others have praised the large and comfortable rooms with luxurious bedding and spacious size, which are clean and have a comfortable bed. Some rooms have been described as small with issues such as a lack of shampoo/conditioner, a weak bathroom floor and the shower screen being too small. Some guests have also noticed issues such as a deep fat fryer smell and a lack of certain Freeview channels on the TV. There are also varying views on the need for updates with some feeling the rooms are dated and tired looking, whilst others have found the rooms to be spacious and clean with super-sized beds and nice views. The Junior Suite has been described as lacking anything special, whilst others have been pleased with an upgrade to a suite. On the negative side, there have been comments about marks on chairs, peeling wallpaper and carpets looking dated. Some rooms were also described as being smaller than expected and a bit dark. However, on the whole, most guests found their rooms warm, quiet and clean.

Beds
At the DoubleTree by Hilton Cheltenham, guests can expect to have an excellent night's sleep thanks to the comfortable and high-quality beds. Some guests were particularly impressed with the nice big beds and the good size of the rooms. However, a small number of guests found the beds and pillows to be not comfortable enough with some reporting neck pain. Overall, most guests found the beds to be very comfortable and highlighted them as a highlight of their stay. The staff were also praised for ensuring guests had a good night's sleep with the pillows mentioned as being particularly amazing. The only downside reported was that some guests found the sofa bed to be uncomfortable and some found the mattresses to be a little too hard. However, most guests enjoyed their stay and had good nights of sleep in the comfortable beds.

Cleanliness
Guests have mixed opinions on the cleanliness of DoubleTree by Hilton Cheltenham. While some guests mention the hotel being very clean with bathrooms and rooms being mentioned specifically, many other guests note issues with cleanliness. Several guests mentioned that parts of the hotel, especially the carpets and hallways, need a deep cleaning or refurbishment. Specific issues mentioned include dirty shower heads, accumulated dust and fluff and mold in the showers. Many guests note that the cleaning staff works hard to keep the rooms clean, but some reviews mentioned hairs found in sinks and on towels. Changing rooms in the spa were also called out for being dirty. Some guests note that the hotel is beautiful and has lovely decor and some even mention that the staff is friendly. Overall, cleanliness seems to be a mixed bag at DoubleTree by Hilton Cheltenham.

Staff
The staff at DoubleTree by Hilton Cheltenham are highly praised by guests who frequently mention the kindness, friendliness and helpfulness of the hotel staff in their reviews. Many guests feel that the staff are an asset to the hotel with particular staff members being singled out for exceptional service. While there are a few comments about some staff needing to improve their handling of questions or tasks, the vast majority of guests are pleased with the level of service they receive. Several guests mention that the staff were always willing to assist with any requests or issues, which made them feel welcomed and appreciated. Despite some slight criticisms of the staff, it seems that the majority of guests highly appreciate the service they received with many describing the staff as amazing and great.

Spa
The spa at DoubleTree by Hilton Cheltenham is a perfect base for a spa weekend with fabulous saunas and welcoming, clean gym and spa facilities. The pool and gym are an added bonus, but some reviewers found the pool area to be old and poorly maintained. While some guests had issues with the condition of the changing rooms and showers, others had a great time using the pool, sauna and jacuzzi. However, one guest was disappointed to find out that another guest was allowed to bring their child into the spa area before 0900, which clashed with their plans. Although some of the spa facilities were considered basic, most guests found them nice, if not very good with competitively priced spa treatments that were worth every penny. The staff, particularly the spa staff, were said to be extremely friendly and supportive, even working above and beyond at times. However, noise in the spa area could be a problem and some guests were disappointed to find that the sauna was not at the right temperature, lockers were broken and there was no shower gel in the showers. Additionally, the swimsuit dryer had been removed from the wall. Despite these small issues, the spa at DoubleTree by Hilton Cheltenham was considered a great facility by many guests.

Gym
If you're someone who likes to maintain their fitness routine even on a vacation, you won't be disappointed with the gym at DoubleTree by Hilton Cheltenham. The gym is nice in size with lots of options and surprisingly well equipped. Guests have found it very useful during their stay. The gym and pool are a great added bonus for fitness enthusiasts. The gym and spa were very welcoming and clean, making it a great place to exercise. However, some guests have found the gym to be unclean. Those who didn't use the gym, didn't feel like they were missing out as there are plenty of other activities to indulge in. The staff is also very accommodating and the pool, gym and sauna are all kept clean, so you can indulge in a workout stress-free.

Pool
The pool at DoubleTree by Hilton Cheltenham seems to be a mixed bag according to guest reviews. On Saturday mornings, families flock to the pool, which unfortunately becomes crowded with not enough loungers for everyone. Some guests have complained of rubbish on the pool floor and the need for regular cleaning. The pool is smaller than website photos suggest and the water can be quite cold for some, especially babies. Some guests were disappointed to find the swimming pool closed for Christmas Eve contrary to information provided. The pool area has also been described as old and not well maintained, including mouldy walls and doors. However, there are some guests who enjoyed the pool, sauna and jacuzzi, stating that they were kept clean. Overall, the pool and gym are seen as an added bonus, but improvements are needed in terms of maintenance and cleanliness.

Parking
Located in Cheltenham, the DoubleTree by Hilton offers a great location that comes with the added benefit of free parking. The hotel boasts a large easily accessed car park with plenty of parking spaces available for guests. Whether you're traveling by car or require a charging station, the hotel has you covered with three free type 2 chargers on site. Overall, the hotel offers a good car park with enough parking space to comfortably accommodate its guests.

Family
The DoubleTree by Hilton Cheltenham is a great place for a family getaway with plenty of activities for kids to enjoy. The swimming pool was particularly popular, especially on Saturday mornings when it was full of families. The rooms were a good size, perfect for young families, although some guests did find the cot mattresses thin and hard. Unfortunately, some guests' stays were slightly disturbed by noisy children running up and down the corridors and in the swimming pool, where one child was jumping and splashing and annoying other guests. Early morning barking from dogs left in rooms was also reported. Despite these minor disruptions, families overall enjoyed a pleasant short stay at this hotel.
