Summary of reviews
Summarized by AI
Balfour Arms provides a welcoming, budget-friendly option for travelers looking to explore Sidmouth and its surroundings, thanks to its convenient location with easy access to the town center and seafront. The establishment's serene country setting, complemented by good public transport links and parking facilities, enhances the overall guest experience. Visitors frequently commend the friendly staff, particularly the dedicated service from hosts Simon and Daisy, who ensure guests feel at home.
Guests often highlight the charming dining experiences, notably the breakfast, which is praised for its quality and variety. Despite minor critiques regarding layout and ambiance, the breakfast offers hearty, cooked-to-order meals, such as the highly recommended English-style options. Dinner at Balfour Arms is equally well-reviewed, with diverse menu options including international dishes and pub classics prepared with local produce, enhancing diners' satisfaction.
The comfort and cleanliness of the rooms are another strong point, with spacious, modern decor and well-appointed bathrooms. The beds, known for their comfort and coziness due to fresh white linen, contribute to restful nights. While some areas outside the rooms, such as corridors and the breakfast area, don't maintain the same level of cleanliness, the overall experience within the rooms remains positive.
Balfour Arms balances comfort and affordability, creating an inviting atmosphere for those seeking a lively pub environment with commendable local dining. Despite the occasional issues with service availability and common area maintenance, the warm hospitality and reasonable pricing make it a favored choice among travelers.
