Upon arrival at the Posada Real, you will find yourself immediately immersed in the grand Mayan World. A few hundred meters away is our most distinguished neighbor: K'an Koj Witz (The hill of the precious puma). Formally known as the Rastrojón Archaeological Site, this was an important area dedicated to honoring the memory of the twelfth ruler of Copán and possibly key in defending the ancient city.
Rastrojón was excavated and restored from 2007 to 2013 by Harvard University and the Honduran Government, and inaugurated in 2013.
For those who are passionate about archeology, it doesn’t get any better than this; El Posada Real de Copán is only 800 meters from the Archaeological Site Las Sepulturas and 2 kms from the Archaeological Park of Copán.
Simply put, we are the closest hotel to the main archaeological sites of Copán. (All accessible by foot, if you prefer to walk)
