Summary of reviews

Summarized by AI

Mountain Hostel Finca La Isa is a nature lover's paradise, beautifully situated amidst the stunning landscapes of Gran Canaria's mountains, offering visitors idyllic views of natural landmarks like Roque Nublo and Roque Bentayga. It serves as an excellent base for hikers, being close to popular trails such as the Santiago de Gran Canaria trail and the GR131. The hostel's remote yet accessible location provides a serene retreat, allowing guests to bask in breathtaking sunrises and sunsets within a tranquil, dreamlike setting.

Guests have mixed feelings about breakfast and dinner. Breakfast, priced at around six euros, receives praise for its fresh, hearty options including farm-fresh eggs and vegan dishes, although some believe the portions are too small and not worth the cost. Dinner, usually around €10-12, is appreciated for its homemade, fresh quality and communal atmosphere, despite varied opinions on portion sizes and occasional late service times.

Accommodations at the hostel are basic and rustic with rooms that are often small, dark and sometimes damp, though equipped with heaters. While some guests find the rustic charm cozy, others note issues with overall cleanliness and maintenance. Common areas fare better, being described as clean, comfortable and conducive to socializing, though shared bathroom facilities can become overcrowded.

Cleanliness is variably addressed in reviews. While some guests commend the clean dormitories and common areas maintained by staff, others highlight issues with dirty bathrooms, dusty rooms and inconsistent maintenance. There were also mentions of pests and lapses in COVID measures.

The hostel staff, comprising primarily young international volunteers, generally receive positive feedback for their friendliness and helpfulness, fostering a welcoming and community-oriented environment. However, there are occasional reports of unprofessional behavior from some managers.

Wi-Fi at the hostel is limited to common areas and can be unreliable, particularly during peak usage times. Parking is available and generally ample, though the steep terrain can pose challenges for some vehicles.

Beds at the hostel also elicit mixed reactions with some guests finding them comfortable and clean, while others report worn-out mattresses and discomfort. Safety and warmth issues, such as thin blankets and unsupported bunk beds, are also noted.

The hostel's fireplaces receive high praise for creating a cozy, inviting atmosphere in the common areas, enhancing the overall experience despite occasional issues with the exhaust system.

Overall, Mountain Hostel Finca La Isa provides a rustic and communal mountain retreat with some room for improvement in terms of cleanliness, accommodation comfort and meal quality. Guests will likely appreciate the stunning location, friendly atmosphere and communal vibe, making it especially suited for nature enthusiasts and hikers seeking a peaceful getaway.
