Haunted Accommodation

This 16-century Irish castle is said to be haunted by its owner, the English Lord Richard Nugent, also known as the Black Baron and his daughter, Sabina. The Black Baron was a notoriously cruel lord who committed many crimes and was responsible for the deaths of many and his ghost is said to wander about the castle up to this day. As for his daughter, Sabina, she fell in love with the son of an enemy Irish chieftain and when they tried to elope, he met a tragic death. Unable to cope with his loss, Sabina starved herself in the castle's tower and her spirit is still there, waiting to be reunited with her loved one.

Steeped in history, Castle Leslie is far from just a historic castle hotel where guests can enjoy their privacy and tranquility. The castle offers everything a guest can expect from a historic building like this, ghosts included. Thankfully, the ghosts that have been sighted so far are not malevolent at all, since they appear to be the original owners who wander around the castle and touch a few things here and there.

Haunted Accommodation

Mansfield Castle was initially built in the 18th century and has undergone a rather turbulent history since then, constantly being sold and changing owners. One of its longer lasting owners was the Fowler family, who purchased the castle in 1890 until a little before WWII. Mr Fowler died in 1930 and Mrs Fowler died in 1938, continuing to live in the castle until her final breath. It is said that her ghost still lingers in the castle's halls and chambers, showing her concern about the property and its state even after her death.

Former Castle Accommodation

The castle and its surrounding land date back to the 18th century. The property changed hands many times before been purchased by George Murray in the early 19th century, who renamed the castle as Mansfield. The turbulent history and change of owners did not cease then, though, since the castle was sold time and again, until the Fowler family came to its possession and refurbished it extensively at the beginning of the 20th century. During WWII, the castle was used by the military and after the war it was turned into a hotel, while still changing various owners throughout the years.
