Hotel Onix, located conveniently just outside the city of Viseu, provides a calm retreat away from city noise while still offering easy access to downtown. Ideal for travelers with cars, the hotel's proximity to main roads ensures swift entries and exits, making it an excellent base for exploring the city. Its quiet surroundings are perfect for a restful night’s sleep and parking is hassle-free, adding to the convenience of a stay here.
The hotel’s breakfast is frequently highlighted as a strong feature. Guests have praised the quality, variety and freshness of the breakfast spread, describing it as very good to spectacular. The extensive buffet offers a variety of choices, ensuring something for every taste and the staff's attentiveness in replenishing the buffet enhances the dining experience further.
Dinner at Hotel Onix also receives positive feedback for its tasty, home-style preparation at modest prices. Many guests appreciate the affordable dining options, highlighting the superb preparation, presentation and service by the friendly staff. Traditional dishes like duck rice are particularly well-received, contributing to a pleasant dining experience overall, albeit with occasional inconsistencies in service and food quality.
The spaciousness and comfort of the rooms are widely praised by guests. Many highlight the room size as a standout feature, along with their cleanliness and coziness. However, some areas require attention, such as updating the décor, improving cleanliness and addressing maintenance issues. Notably, there are occasional reports of outdated furniture and cleanliness lapses.
Cleanliness feedback is mixed but leans positive with guests appreciating the daily housekeeping and the general upkeep of the rooms. Nonetheless, occasional lapses such as mold, musty smells and specific incidents like ants in breakfast items suggest room for improvement.
A key strength of Hotel Onix is its exceptional staff. Guests commonly describe the staff as friendly, kind and attentive with the reception team receiving high praise for their welcoming demeanor. Restaurant service, especially by notable staff members, stands out for its quality and attentiveness, contributing significantly to a positive guest experience.

The hotel is also noted for being family-friendly, offering large rooms that provide ample space for families. Guests appreciate the pleasant ambiance, child-friendly breakfast options and the accommodating nature of the hotel for families.
However, the comfort of the beds and pillows receives mixed reviews. While some guests find them comfortable, others describe the mattresses as hard and pillows as lacking comfort, indicating a need for upgrades to ensure a more consistently comfortable sleep experience.
As a three-star establishment, Hotel Onix meets expectations well, offering excellent value, particularly in terms of room quality and breakfast offerings. Despite some dated aspects, the overall experience aligns with typical three-star standards, making it a recommended option for budget-friendly accommodation.
For business travelers, the hotel provides a welcoming environment and necessary amenities like a mini bar and business-ready rooms. Meeting rooms and a business lounge further enhance its appeal for corporate events and meetings.
Additionally, the hotel offers good accessibility features, ensuring easy and quick access to its facilities for guests with disabilities. Strategic location and considerate staff support make it a practical choice for all guests, despite some minor issues like occasional ants during breakfast.
