Reopened as a six-room guesthouse in May 2014, it preserves rare painted and ornate wooden ceilings, features seen in only a handful of Zagori buildings and tied to the region’s 17th–18th-century prosperity under Ottoman-era privileges. Its name revives “Paroraia,” the ancient toponym for the wider Zagori—“the place behind/beyond the mountains”—linking the house to the area’s stone-mansion, slate-roof architectural tradition, today recognized internationally.
