Perched atop a mountain, the hotel provides breathtaking views of the Dahar and Saharan region, making it an ideal retreat for nature lovers and explorers. Guests are consistently awed by the spectacular sunrises, sunsets and starry nights, as well as the serene, picturesque environment.
The hotel’s proximity to Matmata makes it a convenient location for sightseeing, further enhanced by a unique lookout tower offering panoramic vistas. The tranquil atmosphere is complemented by detailed attention to the accommodations, creating a peaceful oasis in the desert. The hotel's charming mix of Berber and modern styles in the décor and architecture adds to the splendid setting, making it a calming escape.
The breakfast at Dar Ayed Tamezret is highly lauded with guests appreciating the hearty, authentic and varied meal options. The use of local ingredients, including homemade bread and organic eggs, alongside traditional Tunisian specialties, provides a delightful and memorable dining experience. Guests with dietary requests are also well-catered for, ensuring everyone enjoys the enthusiastic breakfast offerings.
Dining extends beyond breakfast with guests frequently praising the traditional Berber and Tunisian dishes served at dinner. The high-quality, flavorful meals have left many guests thoroughly satisfied, frequently noting that the three-course traditional dinner is one of the best meals they had in Tunisia. Despite one minor note on the dinner pricing, the consensus declares the food at Dar Ayed Tamezret as delicious and thoroughly enjoyable.
Rooms at the hotel are described as exceptionally clean, spacious and beautifully decorated. The blend of traditional and contemporary styles creates a cozy and unique ambiance. The troglodyte rooms, in particular, stand out for their distinctive design and comfort. While there are occasional minor issues noted, such as mildew in the bathrooms or differing standards among some rooms, the overall quality and cleanliness of the accommodations receive high praise.
The hotel staff, spearheaded by the notably kind and professional Rafik, are frequently commended for their warm hospitality and attentiveness. The staff’s dedication to making guests feel at home and their willingness to assist with any request significantly enhance the guest experience, making visitors feel like part of a family.
Although the Wi-Fi is limited mainly to common areas and can be unreliable, it does not overshadow the hotel's numerous positives. The pool, though small and unheated, offers a delightful setting with panoramic views, providing a relaxing spot for guests after their adventures.
In summary, Dar Ayed Tamezret stands out for its magnificent location, impeccable cleanliness, charming accommodations, delicious food and exceptional staff, making it a highly recommended destination for travelers seeking a memorable and serene getaway in southern Tunisia.
