Summary of reviews
Summarized by AI
Upupa de l’Atlas, nestled in the scenic Moroccan countryside, emerges as a tranquil oasis ideal for those seeking a serene escape. The property is known for its breathtaking gardens and charming architecture, offering an exceptional atmosphere of relaxation with distant mountain views. Despite its somewhat challenging access via a dirt road, its remote location about 30 to 40 minutes from Marrakech ensures a peaceful environment, making it a dream destination, especially for road travelers heading to Ouarzazate or the Ourika Valley.
The hotel's breakfast stands out as a memorable highlight with guests lauding it as wonderful, hearty and delicious. The offerings include a varied spread of traditional Moroccan dishes, freshly squeezed juices and freshly baked goods, all presented elegantly. The experience is further enhanced by the picturesque settings, often enjoyed in the garden areas. Dinner, too, receives high praise for its quality with guests particularly enjoying both Moroccan and Italian dishes served on the beautiful rooftop terrace. The cuisine, often prepared by the owner, is noted for its fresh garden ingredients, although some guests found the portions small and prices high.
Accommodations at Upupa de l’Atlas are highly regarded for their cleanliness, spaciousness and elegant decor. The rooms feature charming terraces, powerful showers and tasteful furnishings, providing a comfortable and aesthetically pleasing stay. While some noted the absence of televisions, the peaceful ambiance more than compensates.
High standards of cleanliness extend from the rooms to the facilities and pool with guests frequently describing the environment as spotless. Although a few areas like bathroom tiles could use more attention, the overall cleanliness leaves a positive impression.
The staff at Upupa de l’Atlas is commended for their exceptional hospitality and attentiveness with many guests highlighting the warm welcome from the multilingual hosts, Khalid and Francesca. Their professional and friendly demeanor adds significantly to an enjoyable stay.
Though WiFi connectivity is limited, particularly in the rooms, this minor inconvenience does not overshadow the serene and picturesque setting the hotel offers. The pool area is a standout feature with its large size, beautiful location and cleanliness providing a perfect spot for relaxation.
Parking is available, though accessing the hotel can be challenging due to the road conditions, which some guests found problematic. Despite this, the availability of on-site parking is a convenience for those with vehicles.
The hotel is notably family-friendly, offering a welcoming atmosphere, family-oriented facilities and activities like an animal farm that delight children. Parents appreciate the homemade meals tailored for kids, making dining hassle-free.
The beds receive largely positive feedback for comfort with a few exceptions regarding firmness preferences and air conditioning placement. Overall, guests find the rooms comfortable and conducive to a restful stay.
For a three-star property, Upupa de l’Atlas often exceeds expectations with great value for pricing, charming Moroccan-style accommodations and a peaceful retreat atmosphere. The delightful pool, set within meticulously maintained gardens, remains a cherished amenity, adding to the overall allure of this hidden gem in the Moroccan countryside.
