Summary of reviews
Summarized by AI
The Holiday Inn & Suites Chicago-Downtown by IHG, is praised for its strategic and convenient location, offering excellent proximity to major sites, downtown attractions and various public transportation options like the nearby CTA S. Clinton Station, Union Station and Amtrak. Its easy accessibility from O’Hare Airport further adds to its appeal, making it ideal for travelers. Though on-site parking fees and the surrounding area prompted mixed feelings, the location is generally considered outstanding.
While the breakfast service has room for improvement with guests expressing mixed reviews regarding cost, variety and communication, some did enjoy their meals at the on-site restaurant. However, issues like additional charges, limited options, cold and overly greasy food and inconsistent availability were noted.
Rooms at the hotel received positive feedback for recent remodeling, cleanliness and overall comfort. Guests appreciated spacious accommodations, comfortable beds and maintained bathrooms, although some noted small bathroom sizes and occasional maintenance issues like clogged drains. Despite these minor drawbacks, the rooms and amenities, including a lovely swimming pool, contribute to a generally pleasant stay.
The hotel excels in cleanliness with guests frequently noting the spotless, well-organized and spacious rooms along with well-maintained common areas. The high standards of cleanliness significantly enhance the overall guest experience.
A standout feature of the hotel is its staff, who receive high praise for their friendliness, helpfulness and exceptional service. The front desk and housekeeping staff, in particular, have been highlighted for their attentiveness and professionalism, even though there are occasional reports of less favorable interactions.
The parking situation garners mixed reviews due to the high cost of $50 to $65 per night. Despite the expense, the convenience and security of on-site parking are appreciated by many.
Guests generally find the beds to be very comfortable, contributing positively to the hotel's reputation for providing a restful stay. While pillow comfort varied among guests, the overall bedding experience is favorable.
In summary, the Holiday Inn & Suites Chicago-Downtown by IHG, is noted for its excellent location, cleanliness, comfortable rooms and friendly staff, making it a solid choice for visitors looking for convenience and quality service, even though some aspects like breakfast and parking could benefit from improvements.
