Monastery
Originally built in the 15th century as two separate buildings, St. Katherine’s and St. Cecily’s convents, the building was used as a monastery throughout the Middle Ages. Later on, it was given to the town of Amsterdam that erected another building that connected the two and used it as a town hall. In the 17th century, Napoleon's brother used it as his residence, and around 1992 it was remade into a hotel.

Monastery
Dating back to the 13th century, the building was used as a monastery where nuns and monks, especially those of distinguished families, stayed there. In the mid 14th century, the monastery officially became a convent where the daughters of noble families stayed. From the 16th to the 18th centuries, the monastery suffered damages due to wars, until it was finally closed down.

Fletcher Kloosterhotel Willibrordhaeghe is highly praised for its serene and picturesque location, nestled in lush surroundings that afford easy access to hiking and cycling routes. The tranquil setting, in concert with the historic architecture of the former monastery, offers a perfect retreat for relaxation and exploration.

The hotel's breakfast and dining experiences are generally well-received. Breakfast is noted for being extensive and delicious, offering a wide variety of fresh options, despite some minor room for improvement. Many guests enjoy the superb organization and friendly staff. The restaurant, DuCo, provides a satisfying culinary experience with high-quality, tasty dishes and a cozy, spacious ambiance. However, occasional disappointments with food quality and wait times are mentioned.

Room accommodations are frequently commended for their spaciousness and cleanliness, offering a comfortable and airy environment with modern conveniences. While the former monastery ambiance adds charm, a few updates in fixtures and better air conditioning could enhance comfort during warmer seasons.

Cleanliness throughout the hotel is generally commendable with occasional lapses. Most guests find the rooms and common areas tidy and well-maintained, although some have encountered issues such as dust and inadequate bathroom hygiene.

Staff members are predominantly described as friendly, welcoming and efficient, contributing positively to the overall guest experience despite a few mentions of inconsistencies in service.

The hotel's Wi-Fi is reliable with only occasional reports of slow speeds. The gym is positively reviewed for its spaciousness and good condition. Parking options are a notable strength, offering ample and varied spaces, including free parking and charging stations for electric vehicles, though the distance from the entrance and surface conditions could be improved.

Family accommodations are well-executed with spacious rooms and child-friendly amenities, making the hotel a suitable choice for family vacations. Beds receive mixed reviews with many finding them comfortable but some noting issues with softness and outdated mattresses.

The hotel's overall four-star rating is seen as ambitious by some guests, due to basic amenities not meeting higher expectations, such as the lack of air conditioning. Nonetheless, the hotel's blend of traditional charm and modern convenience, alongside its business-friendly features, ensures a comfortable and accommodating stay for a wide range of travelers. Accessibility features also highlight the hotel’s commitment to inclusivity, making it a convenient choice for guests with disabilities.
