Info
Estate 1896, a historic property located in Santorini, harks back to the island's era under Ottoman rule. Constructed in 1896, the building's design encapsulates traditional architecture, with canavas, or wine storage areas, in the lower levels and residential spaces in the upper levels. Made with locally-sourced materials such as stones and volcanic kissira, the complex boasts prominent arches and was outfitted with modern amenities of the time, including comprehensive water storage and agricultural land within its walls.

\nThe complex was initially home to a distinguished merchant family and their workers, boasting a thriving wine production operation. Although the 1956 earthquake damaged the property significantly, the lower part survived and was later refurbished. A complete restoration that began in 2010 equipped Estate 1896 with modern facilities while retaining its historic architecture.
