Summary of reviews
Summarized by AI
Casa do Mestre enjoys an exceptional location in downtown Setubal, highly praised by guests for its proximity to the city center, "casco viejo," supermarkets, pharmacies, market, dock, restaurants and beach. The secure entrance door and uncomplicated check-in and check-out process enhance the overall convenience, making it an appealing choice for visitors eager to explore the area.
The rooms at Casa do Mestre receive mixed reviews. Positively, guests appreciate the spaciousness, reasonable quietness and the comfort of the beds, though they note some beds are noisy. However, significant issues are reported regarding poor and deteriorated furniture, dampness on walls, unclean bathrooms and occasional sightings of cockroaches. Misleading advertising about room amenities, including absent kitchens, unreliable Wi-Fi, lack of TV channels and privacy concerns in rooms with bunk beds, contribute to a need for considerable improvement.
Cleanliness is another area with varied feedback. While some guests find the establishment welcoming, tidy and spotlessly clean, many others express concern over the hygiene standards. Reports highlight neglect in detailed cleaning, presence of cockroaches, dirty conditions, unpleasant smells of tobacco and insect problems when ventilating rooms, indicating a necessity for substantial enhancements in cleanliness.
The staff at Casa do Mestre are commended for their friendliness, helpfulness and personalized service from the owner, making guests feel valued. The convenience of the self-check-in process adds to the positive experience. Despite these favorable interactions, instances of unresponsive behavior, privacy issues from cleaning staff and logistical mismatches in check-in times and room amenities are noted.
The quality of beds also garners mixed reactions. While many guests find the beds comfortable with some even describing them as very comfortable and spacious, issues arise from thin, hard mattresses, combined mattresses that sink in the middle and cleanliness concerns involving dirty beds and ant infestations. These factors significantly affect the overall comfort and sleep quality for several guests.
In summary, Casa do Mestre stands out for its prime location, friendly staff and ease of access offering good value. However, room conditions, cleanliness standards and bed quality present substantial areas needing attention and improvement to enhance the overall guest experience.
