Summary of reviews
Summarized by AI
Albany, Brighton & Hove is widely praised for its outstanding location, providing guests with easy access to the beach, local bars, cafes, restaurants and both Hove and the city center. Its quiet yet central setting is ideal for leisurely seaside strolls and a peaceful retreat from the bustling city. The surrounding area is charming with good street parking available and the spacious rooms add to the overall comfort of the stay. Many guests appreciated the generous room sizes, making it a suitable choice for families or those needing extra space.
The rooms at Albany are clean and stylish, offering a pleasant atmosphere with comfortable, notably soft beds. However, while many guests found the rooms charming and sufficiently maintained, some noted that the decor and furnishings are somewhat basic and dated, suggesting room for minor updates. Cleanliness received mixed reviews with some instances of unclean areas and outdated facilities highlighting the need for a thorough renovation.
A standout feature of Albany is its exceptional staff, consistently described as friendly, helpful and accommodating. The team's readiness to assist with flexible check-in/check-out times and special requests greatly enhances the guest experience. The manager, Usher, in particular, is often highlighted for his professionalism and helpfulness, contributing to the warm and welcoming atmosphere.
Wi-Fi availability is another area with mixed feedback. Some guests found the Wi-Fi service reliable and easy to access, while others struggled with poor signal strength and inconsistent connections, leading to frustration.
The quality of the beds also varied with some guests enjoying a restful sleep on very comfortable beds, while others found the mattresses lumpy, thin or hard, affecting their sleep quality.
Overall, Albany, Brighton & Hove offers a budget-friendly stay with spacious rooms, a prime location and an exceptional staff. However, the hotel's dated appearance and inconsistent cleanliness and comfort levels reflect its budget nature and it may not fully meet the expectations of its three-star rating.
