Tsunami Hostel, located just a few minutes from the ocean, offers guests easy access to the beach and is a short walk from the town center. This strategic location allows visitors to enjoy both seaside tranquility and the conveniences of nearby local restaurants, the bus line, and a ferry connection to Playa Grande. The hostel's proximity to surf spots makes it a favored choice for beach enthusiasts, further complemented by the amicable service led by the hospitable Mr. Omar.
The rooms at Tsunami Hostel, while simple and adequate, provide basic amenities and a natural, peaceful atmosphere. Despite some maintenance issues, such as aging facilities and malfunctioning showers, the comfort of air conditioning is a notable plus when available. Though some cleanliness concerns are evident with torn sheets and broken mosquito nets, the friendly and helpful staff significantly enhance guests' experiences, often overshadowing these minor drawbacks.
Cleanliness remains a point of concern across various areas of the hostel, including rooms and bathrooms, which need maintenance and updates. The kitchen also shows signs of neglect, though it offers cost-saving options for guests prepared to make their own meals. Nevertheless, the friendly staff and owner Omar receive high praise for their welcoming nature and attentiveness, creating a warm environment where guests feel genuinely cared for.
While beds receive mixed reviews, many guests find them comfortable despite some variability, with a few older mattresses needing attention. Overall, the friendly atmosphere, strategic location, and responsive service make Tsunami Hostel a recommended choice for budget-conscious travelers seeking a straightforward lodging experience near the beach.

Maravida Social Hotel by Crazy Monkey stands out for its pet-friendly approach, making it an ideal destination for travelers who wish to bring their furry friends along. The hotel is recognized for allowing pets and many guests have experienced stays where their pets were welcomed warmly. The animal-friendly environment ensures that both guests and their pets can enjoy their time at the property.
However, the hotel might need to address the occasional issue of dogs barking and the presence of other dogs on the premises, which some guests noticed. Additionally, while the hotel is pet-friendly, it could benefit from providing more designated spaces for pets to roam comfortably. Overall, Maravida Social Hotel by Crazy Monkey remains a strong choice for pet owners seeking a welcoming place to stay in Tamarindo.
