The original structure is said to have been built some time during the 17th century and after the end of the Ottoman era in 1821, the local owner, Ibrahim Bey, ceded the property to the Ritsos and Kapetsini families. Lina Kapetsini lived in the mansion until the late 1970s and after her death the property fell into disrepair. In 2006, the mansion was restored and became a boutique hotel in 2010. The Ottoman features of the building, such as the large chimney and fireplaces, are still evident today, fused with Byzantine and Venetian elements.

Bourdaisière is not just a hotel. It's a monument of the 14th-16th century that is located in the heart of the Châteaux of the Loire in France. Its 25 rooms and 4 apartments have been recently restored and decorated by its owner Prince Louis Albert de Broglie.

Former Castle Hotel

A 14th century fortress with a dry moat to defend the outer towers. Throughout the Middle Ages, it was bought and sold to different owners. During the Renaissance, the fortress was reconstructed and its walls were refortified. The King of France and his descendants were frequent guests. In the 17th century, Marquis Nicolas Gouffier de Crèvecoeur built the medieval courtyard. In 1938, the castle was occupied by Germans to be used as a military school.

Dog Friendly Hotel

Pets are allowed on request, some charges may be applicable.

Historic Hotel

In the Middle Ages, the Deputy Governor of Touraine built this fortress and its dry moat. For generations, it was passed down until 1482 when it was bought. Unfortunately, time took a toll on the walls. During the Renaissance, Philibert Babou, the King's Treasurer, reconstructed the fortress and extended the moat. It is here were Marie Goudin, heiress of Bourdaisière and Philibert Babou, had her wedding. It is also here where the King of France, Francis I, stayed during his time in Touraine. Later, France's Minister of Defence fortified the castle and armed it with guns due to the troubled times.

Oheka Castle rests on the highest point of Long Island. It emanates the elegant refinement of a chateaux in France coupled with the rich American history. The Castle has 32 luxurious guestrooms and suites situated on the upper floors of the estate.

Former Castle Hotel

Oheka Castle was built almost a century ago by the financier and philanthropist Otto Hermann Kahn for an estimated cost of $11 million ($110 million in today’s currency). During the Gilded Age of the 1920s, Kahn used the 127-room estate as a summer home where he hosted lavish parties. Heads of state and Hollywood stars have been among the people invited. After the death of Otto Kahn in 1934, the estate changed hands several times. It used to serve as a retreat for New York sanitation workers and a government training school for Merchant Marine radio operators. In 1948, the Eastern Military Academy bought Oheka but the school went bankrupt 30 years later. In 1984, developer Gary Melius purchased Oheka and the surrounding 23 acres and began restoring the Castle to its original grandeur. Today, after $30 million spent in restoration, Oheka is listed on the National Register of Historic Places and is a member of Historic Hotels of America.
