Auberge des Platanes is lauded for its exceptional location alongside the beautiful Dordogne River, nestled in the heart of La Roque-Gageac. This prime setting offers stunning views, a tranquil environment and easy access to local attractions, making it an excellent base for exploring the Black Périgord region. The delightful terrace under plane trees enhances the experience, providing a perfect spot for meals with breathtaking views.
Breakfast at Auberge des Platanes is generally well-received, characterized as hearty and generous with fresh bread, pastries and orange juice being standout items. Dining on the terrace with river views adds to the enjoyment. The dinner experience also earns commendations for its beautiful settings and good quality food at reasonable prices, although the service can be inconsistent.
Rooms in the hotel receive mixed feedback. Positive remarks highlight spaciousness, comfort, modern amenities in renovated rooms and picturesque river views. However, issues such as outdated decor, occasional cleanliness lapses and noise disturbances are noted, varying significantly across different rooms.
Staff at Auberge des Platanes are frequently praised for their friendliness and helpfulness, contributing positively to the guest experience. Although there can be occasional lapses in attentiveness and promptness, the overall sentiment is that the young, dynamic team strives well under demanding conditions.
Parking facilities are highlighted positively with guests appreciating the proximity and security of private parking. Some mention the need for better enforcement to ensure spaces for hotel guests. The family-friendly accommodations, particularly the spacious air-conditioned family rooms with terraces, prove to be advantageous for those traveling with children, despite minor inconveniences such as occasional kitchen noise.
The quality of the beds generally stands as a strong point with most guests finding the bedding comfortable and clean, though there are occasional mentions of less satisfactory experiences.
Overall, the strengths of Auberge des Platanes lie in its idyllic location, satisfying breakfast, delightful dining ambiance and friendly staff, making it a commendable choice for travelers, though improvements in room consistency and service could enhance the experience further.
