Hotel Störtebeker, situated between Wismar and Rostock and about 15 kilometers from the Baltic Sea beach, enjoys a central and car-friendly location that offers easy access to various scenic destinations around the region. Although its proximity to the federal highway poses some noise concerns and limits pedestrian access, the hotel remains a practical choice for car travelers, providing ample parking and even a charging facility for hybrid cars.
Guests frequently commend the breakfast service, describing it as delicious, diverse and offering fresh Fairtrade coffee. Most find it a good value for money with accommodating staff further enhancing the experience. However, some suggest improvements in variety and availability at times. Dinner receives mixed feedback: while fish dishes and home-style cooking are praised, the limited operational hours of the restaurant and occasional cafeteria-like quality can be drawbacks.
The rooms at Hotel Störtebeker are spacious and generally provide good value, but opinions on cleanliness and furnishings vary. Many rooms are clean and adequate, yet others show signs of wear and could benefit from more thorough cleaning and updates. Despite inconveniences like non-closing bath doors, lack of refrigerators and small showers, the large room size, basic amenities and availability of still water are positive aspects.
Staff at Hotel Störtebeker are often noted for their friendly and helpful demeanor. Guests frequently appreciate their warm hospitality and individual attention, which significantly enriches the overall stay experience. The commitment to making guests feel welcome and the attentive service at the reception and breakfast time highlight the staff's dedication.
One area of consistent criticism is the WiFi service, which many guests found unreliable, particularly in rooms, although it performs better in the restaurant area. The requirement to request the WiFi code also adds to the inconvenience. Conversely, parking facilities are praised for being ample, conveniently located and free, enhancing the hotel's appeal for those traveling by car.
Opinions on bedding are mixed with some guests finding the beds comfortable, while others reported issues such as creaking noises, soft mattresses and insufficient pillows. Maintenance issues like broken bed slats and non-adjustable headboards were also noted, suggesting that improvements in bedding and room maintenance could further enhance the guest experience.
Overall, Hotel Störtebeker offers a commendable stay with its central location, friendly staff, good parking facilities and satisfying breakfast, making it particularly appealing for short-term visits and car travelers. However, attention to room updates, WiFi reliability and dining options could elevate the overall guest experience further.
