The White Horse, situated in a picturesque village between Hornsea and York, is a charming retreat well-known for its idyllic setting and easy access to local attractions. Guests appreciate its serene atmosphere, friendly staff and welcoming environment. The hotel provides excellent value for money, offering high-quality food and free on-site parking.
The accommodation experience is generally positive with visitors commending the cleanliness, spaciousness and comfort of the rooms. Recently refurbished ground-floor rooms receive particular praise, though some of the older rooms may feel dated. Overall, the beds are comfortable, but there are occasional reports of less satisfactory older mattresses.
Breakfast at The White Horse receives mixed reviews. The continental breakfast is described as adequate and generous by many, though some guests are disappointed by its simplicity. However, the dinner service stands out with guests frequently praising the tasty, well-presented and reasonably priced meals.
The staff contribute significantly to the positive experience at The White Horse. They are consistently described as friendly, helpful and accommodating, creating a welcoming atmosphere for all guests. Efficient service during meals and their willingness to go the extra mile are also highlighted.
Cleanliness is another strong point with both the rooms and public areas maintaining high standards. The hotel grounds are well-kept, adding to the overall pleasant environment. Although the Wi-Fi is generally good, some guests experience intermittent issues. The ample and easy-to-find parking facilities are appreciated, though there are minor suggestions for improvement.
In summary, The White Horse offers a delightful, budget-friendly getaway with exceptional service, cleanliness and a picturesque setting. It caters well to those looking for a tranquil stay with good food, though it might not fully satisfy guests seeking a more elaborate breakfast or modern room amenities.
