The Ballyrafter House Hotel was initially constructed in the 1800s by the Duke of Devonshire, who used to be one of the wealthiest men in England at the time. Intended as a personal residence for his estate manager, great care was given to the building's construction and decoration. Even today, after the building has been renovated to operate as a hotel, its rooms and interiors retain the period splendour and elegance, without seeming overly pretentious.
