The Bath Arms Shearwater began life as a 17th-century inn serving the Longleat estate, a few minutes’ walk from Shearwater Lake. It remained part of Longleat until 1923, when it was sold to meet death duties, hence the “Shearwater” suffix today to distinguish it from other Bath Arms nearby. After a period closed, the pub reopened in July 2023 following a full refurbishment, restoring its role as a quietly historic country inn on the estate’s fringe.
