Albergo Elvezia in Rivera enjoys an exceptional location that caters to various traveler needs. The hotel is strategically positioned near the main road and the Rivera train station, facilitating easy access to public transportation and nearby attractions such as hiking trails, Monte Tamaro cable car and the Splash&Spa. Despite its proximity to a major road, the hotel ensures tranquility with rooms situated at the back, away from street noise. Its central location also allows for quick commutes to Lugano and serves as a convenient transit point for trips to Italy.
Guests' experiences with the breakfast at Albergo Elvezia vary with many praising its abundance and the inclusion of local cheese and homemade sweets. The attentive service and freshness of the buffet, when timely prepared, are also appreciated. However, some guests feel the breakfast selection could be more varied and timely, noting the absence of items like brioches and croissants. Despite mixed reviews, the effort to provide a satisfying meal with local flavors and friendly service is apparent.
The hotel’s dinner fares much better in reviews, earning high praise for its quality and taste. The restaurant’s dishes, including pizzas and salads, are described as delicious and generously portioned. The pleasant dining ambiance with a courtyard-facing area, enhances the overall experience. While drinks are not included in the dinner menu, the cleanliness, generous portions and overall quality leave a favorable impression on guests.
Rooms at Albergo Elvezia are simple, clean and functional. Guests appreciate their spaciousness and cleanliness, though the decor may seem outdated and basic amenities are occasionally lacking. Renovated rooms are well-maintained and noise insulation is effective for rooms facing the quieter courtyards. Some drawbacks include the lack of modern facilities like air conditioning in rooms facing the street and the occasional presence of ants or other minor issues. Nonetheless, cleanliness remains a standout feature and the rooms are adequate for short stays or solo travelers needing basic accommodations.
Cleanliness is a consistent positive across reviews with many guests highlighting the spotless rooms and bathrooms. The hotel's dedication to hygiene makes it a reliable choice for those prioritizing a clean environment.
The staff at Albergo Elvezia generally receive high marks for their friendliness, politeness and helpfulness. Many reviews mention the staff's exceptional accommodation and willingness to assist, particularly during mealtimes. However, some guests experienced communication issues due to the staff primarily speaking Italian and a few noted instances of unfriendliness. Despite these isolated cases, the staff overall enhance the guest experience with their attentiveness.
Parking at Albergo Elvezia is commendable, offering free, convenient and secure parking options. While spaces are limited, they are generally sufficient for guests, adding to the hotel's appeal for those traveling by car.
The feedback on the beds is mixed with many guests finding the mattresses too soft, which may not suit everyone’s comfort preferences. Some describe the beds as comfortable while others find them saggy or lacking adequate bed linens. Therefore, the comfort of the beds is somewhat subjective and varies among guests.
