Dar Berrada-Ziat in Fès, Morocco, comes highly recommended, particularly for its well-balanced blend of accessibility and tranquility. Nestled within the medina near the Bab Ziat gate and Bab Boujloud, the riad is well-positioned to explore local attractions on foot while offering a peaceful retreat from the bustling souks. Guests repeatedly praise the quiet yet central location, despite the maze-like streets that can be tricky to navigate at first. The proximity to historical sites, good eateries and motorcycle parking elevates the property's appeal.
The standout breakfast experience features traditional Moroccan offerings served on a scenic rooftop terrace, highly appreciated for both its quality and the attentive service. The breakfast's variety and generous portions—including fresh orange juice, pastries, eggs and local flatbreads—ensure a satisfying start to the day. Similarly, dinner at the riad garners high praise for the flavorful traditional dishes like tajine and couscous, served at reasonable prices on a charming terrace.
Guests consistently highlight the cleanliness of both rooms and communal spaces with reviews indicating that the hygiene standards surpass the norm for the region. The rooms, which some describe as exuding an Arabian fairy tale ambiance, are spacious, well-decorated and equipped with modern amenities like air conditioning, mini-bars and reliable hot water. Some rooms lack windows and natural ventilation, but this is a minor issue compared to the overall comfort and beauty of the accommodations.
The exceptional service at Dar Berrada-Ziat is frequently attributed to the friendly and attentive staff. Individuals like Abdul, Omar, Ismael and Abdoulali receive special mentions for their extraordinary hospitality. Many guests feel a familial warmth in their interactions, enjoying complimentary mint tea and personalized assistance with itineraries and local recommendations. The staff's dedication significantly enhances the guest experience, leaving a lasting positive impression.
Wi-Fi quality is generally reliable and satisfactory for most needs, although occasional disconnects have been reported. Parking options are clean, secure and conveniently located near the hotel for a small fee, addressing the needs of both car travelers and motorcyclists. Despite some challenges like navigating tight streets, the well-organized parking adds to the hotel's favorable location.
The beds are widely reported as comfortable, though some guests find the mattresses a bit firmer than preferred. The cozy nature of the rooms, effective air conditioning and thoughtful amenities contribute to a pleasant sleeping environment.
Accessibility is another strong point, catering even to guests with disabilities. With its welcoming atmosphere, proximity to key attractions and a convenient shuttle service to and from the airport, Dar Berrada-Ziat offers a highly enjoyable and accessible stay for all its visitors.
