Casa De Canilhas stands as an exquisite retreat, offering a stunning infinity pool that overlooks the Douro River and its picturesque valley. This remarkable feature is often highlighted for its beauty and serenity, allowing guests to unwind and enjoy the mesmerizing views of both the river and the surrounding vineyards. The pool area is described as inviting and relaxing, providing ample opportunities for sunbathing in a tranquil and uncrowded setting.
The pool itself is consistently lauded for its cleanliness and the pleasant environment of the surrounding areas. Additionally, the integration of a billiard room and other recreational amenities within the outdoor space further enhances the leisure experience. Guests also emphasize the value of the room accommodations, delightful breakfasts and the exceptional friendliness of the staff, creating an all-encompassing atmosphere of warmth and hospitality.
Occasional mentions of the pool's cold temperature and slight coloration issues are noted, but these do not overshadow the overwhelmingly positive feedback on the pool’s aesthetic and the overall ambiance of the property. Therefore, the combination of a well-maintained infinity pool with spectacular views and attentive service makes Casa De Canilhas a highly recommended destination for relaxation and scenic beauty.

The Douro Palace Hotel Resort & SPA offers a range of pool options that have garnered mixed reviews. Guests appreciate the stunning views and beautiful settings of both indoor and outdoor pools, which are described as very good and ideal for relaxing. The outdoor pool, in particular, is praised for being great and well-maintained. However, there are some concerns about the indoor pool's size and temperature with several guests noting that it feels quite small and could be warmer. The requirement to use swim caps at the indoor pool and additional fees associated with them have also been mentioned as inconveniences.
The indoor pool’s breathtaking west-facing glass wall is a notable highlight, offering spectacular views. The surroundings of the pools, including the spa and gardens, are reported to be wonderful and well-kept. Despite these positives, the pool area can get crowded and suffers from a shortage of sun loungers and umbrellas, detracting from the overall experience.
Cleanliness of the pools appears to vary with some guests finding the outdoor pool less well-maintained and in need of vacuuming, especially the grass floor around it. Indoor pool cleanliness is influenced by the weather, showing room for consistent improvements.
Overall, while the pool facilities at Douro Palace Hotel Resort & SPA boast beautiful views and a relaxing environment, there are aspects that could benefit from further enhancements to meet guest expectations fully.
