Wyndham Garden Düsseldorf Mettmann garners a strong reputation primarily for its strategic and convenient location. Guests appreciate its positioning between Düsseldorf and Wuppertal with easy access to highways, which ensures quick travel times and makes it especially appealing for business travelers and trade fair attendees. Public transportation connections are excellent and nearby amenities add to the convenience. Despite being close to a busy main road, the hotel maintains a quiet ambiance suitable for restful stays.
The breakfast offerings receive high praise for their variety, quality and consistency. Guests highlight the comprehensive selection at the buffet, featuring items like fresh fruit, eggs, cheese and coffee. The breakfast service is well-organized, regularly replenished and the staff is noted for being friendly and accommodating.
The hotel's restaurant also receives positive feedback with guests enjoying the quality and taste of the food. The dinner buffet at a reasonable price is a popular choice and the pleasant service further enhances the dining experience. However, the atmosphere of the dining hall could use some improvements and the menu is somewhat limited due to pandemic restrictions.
Rooms at Wyndham Garden Düsseldorf Mettmann are a mixed experience. Positively, the cleanliness and comfort of the rooms, particularly the beds, are appreciated. Nonetheless, several guests find the rooms outdated and small with some issues in temperature control and ventilation. Noise can also be a concern in certain areas of the hotel.
Cleanliness overall is a point of contention. While some guests find the rooms clean and well-maintained, others report issues such as stained carpets, dust accumulation and occasionally missed cleaning spots. Attention to COVID-19 safety protocols, such as mask-wearing by staff, has been flagged as an area needing improvement.
The staff is consistently praised for their friendliness, helpfulness and professional demeanor. The 24/7 reception service and the accommodating nature of the team significantly contribute to a positive guest experience. The efficiency and attentiveness of the restaurant and housekeeping staff are often highlighted.
Wi-Fi connectivity is an area for improvement with many guests reporting inconsistent and unreliable internet access, especially in rooms and on higher floors. While the lobby and reception areas have better connectivity, this limited coverage does not meet guest expectations.
The hotel's wellness and fitness center is appreciated for providing a small gym and sauna area, although some technical issues and maintenance problems have been noted. The gym's limited hours of operation in the early evening are also seen as a drawback.
Parking facilities receive positive reviews with multiple options that include free parking spaces, affordable paid parking and an underground garage. While the parking lot can become crowded, there are generally sufficient spaces available.
The beds are generally described as comfortable with most guests reporting a positive experience. However, a few found the beds too soft or narrow and some mentioned issues with sagging mattresses.
Despite being advertised as a four-star hotel, several guests feel it does not meet the expectations of this rating, pointing out areas needing renovation and better maintenance. The overall service and facility quality fall short of what is typically expected for a four-star experience.
The hotel stands out for its exceptional dog-friendly environment with guests praising the warm welcome extended to pets. This makes it a highly suitable option for those traveling with canine companions.
Overall, Wyndham Garden Düsseldorf Mettmann offers a convenient and comfortable stay with many positive aspects, particularly its location, breakfast quality and friendly staff. However, there are areas needing improvement, especially concerning room updates, Wi-Fi connectivity and adherence to cleanliness standards.
