Summary of reviews
Summarized by AI
The Hedgehog by Innkeeper’s Collection, located just on the outskirts of Lichfield, offers a serene and picturesque setting surrounded by lush greenery and historic trees. This charming country-style inn provides ample on-site parking and easy access to local attractions, making it an ideal base for exploring Lichfield, its stunning cathedral and nearby sites like the National Memorial Arboretum and Rugeley. The beautiful, well-maintained building exudes warmth and character, featuring clean, spacious and comfortable rooms with unique period decor, high ceilings and intricate wooden designs.
Guests frequently praise the inn for its cleanliness, noting spotless rooms and bathrooms maintained by diligent housekeeping staff. The spacious, well-decorated accommodations are complemented by large, comfortable beds that often ensure a restful night's sleep, despite a few mentions of overly firm mattresses. The restful ambiance is amplified by the inn’s quiet location, offering a peaceful retreat.
The cuisine at The Hedgehog is a standout feature with many guests lauding the food as delicious, fresh and well-cooked. Both breakfast and dinner receive high marks for quality and taste with breakfast being particularly notable for its variety and freshness. The dining experience is further enhanced by the inn’s lovely bar area and stylish restaurant, which provide a cozy, inviting atmosphere.
The staff at The Hedgehog receive consistently high praise for their friendliness, efficiency and professionalism. Their welcoming attitude and attentiveness significantly contribute to guests' positive experiences, making them feel well-attended from arrival to departure.
Families will find the accommodations spacious and suitable with rooms designed to accommodate various group sizes comfortably. The family-friendly atmosphere extends to the restaurant, ensuring a pleasant stay for all age groups.
While the Wi-Fi service is adequate for basic needs, it can be slow and sometimes requires signing up for O2 marketing, which might be cumbersome for international visitors. Additionally, the beds are generally comfortable, though some guests note that mattresses can be on the firmer side.
Overall, The Hedgehog by Innkeeper’s Collection is a historic inn that offers excellent value for money. Its combination of beautiful surroundings, charming decor, quality food and friendly staff makes it a compelling choice for travelers seeking comfort and tranquility in a convenient location.
