Summary of reviews
Summarized by AI
DoubleTree by Hilton Wilkes-Barre, stands out as an excellent choice for travelers seeking a blend of convenience, comfort and scenic beauty. Nestled in a tranquil hilltop location, it offers stunning views of the surrounding mountains and valley, while still providing easy access to I-81, local shopping, restaurants and key destinations like Mohegan Sun Arena and Wilkes University. Despite being close to major highways, guests appreciate the quiet environment and the effortless connectivity to the Poconos region, making it ideal for event-goers and casual travelers alike.
The hotel’s breakfast service is highly acclaimed, noted for its excellent array of hot, fresh and delicious options, including a friendly buffet setup at a reasonable price. While there are mixed reviews regarding whether breakfast should be included in the room rate, the overall quality, variety and value make it a highlight of many guests' stay. The on-site restaurant is also favored for dinner with great views and a welcoming atmosphere, ensuring that guests don’t have to venture far for a satisfying meal. Room service offers a convenient option for late arrivals.
Rooms generally receive praise for their cleanliness, spaciousness and comfort. Many guests describe the accommodations as modern and well-maintained with comfortable beds and large, clean bathrooms. However, there are occasional reports of issues such as musty smells, dirty spots and missing amenities like refrigerators and microwaves. Overall, the positive elements, including effective blackout curtains and a quiet environment, contribute to a pleasant stay.
Cleanliness throughout the property is mostly commended with well-kept grounds and tidy accommodations. Some guests, however, note the need for deeper cleaning and occasional problems like bugs and rough towels. Despite these issues, the friendly and professional staff help to maintain a welcoming and hospitable atmosphere, adding significantly to the overall positive experience.
The hotel's amenities, including the gym and pool areas, enhance the guest experience. The well-equipped gym and spacious, clean pool are appreciated by guests looking for relaxation and exercise. The indoor pool is a particular favorite, though there are some mentions of inconsistencies with the jacuzzi’s temperature.
Families find the hotel accommodating with facilities that cater well to children, such as a spacious pool and playground area. The friendly staff and convenient location also make it a family-friendly destination, although minor issues like noise from kids and occasional smells are noted.
Comfortable beds, although varied in firmness preferences, contribute to restful stays for many guests with numerous positive mentions of soft bedding and inviting queen-size beds. However, a few guests experienced discomfort due to hard mattresses.
In summary, DoubleTree by Hilton Wilkes-Barre, offers a well-rounded and enjoyable stay with its prime location, excellent dining options, comfortable rooms and friendly service. Minor inconsistencies in room quality and amenities are outweighed by the overall positive experiences, making it a reliable choice for travelers to the Wilkes Barre area.
