Summary of reviews
Summarized by AI
The Red Roof Inn Mystic - New London offers a convenient location for travelers with easy access to I-95 and proximity to local attractions such as Ocean Beach State Park, Mohegan Sun and the Coast Guard Academy. Its strategic placement near restaurants, stores, casinos and the ferry makes it a practical choice for both business and leisure visitors. Pet-friendly policies and friendly front desk associates further enhance the guest experience.
Room quality, however, is mixed. Some guests find the rooms clean, comfortable and quiet with suitable basic amenities for the value. Yet, many report that the rooms are outdated and require significant maintenance. Issues range from musty odors and cigarette smells to mold, clogged sinks, broken furnishings and stained carpets. Problems extend to the bathrooms with frequent reports of rust, mold and malfunctioning toilets. Severe issues like leaking refrigerators, non-functional air conditioning and the presence of rodents have also been noted. The inconsistency of room amenities, such as the presence of microwaves and mini-refrigerators, adds to the dissatisfaction.
The general cleanliness of the property also receives predominant criticism. While some mention clean linens and towels, many highlight dirty carpets, moldy rooms and a general lack of property maintenance. The presence of roaches and an overall rundown appearance further contribute to the negative reviews on cleanliness.
Staff reviews are divided; many guests commend the friendly, respectful and helpful service from the staff, especially the front desk associates. However, experiences vary with reports of some staff being rude, unaccommodating or unprofessional, leading to mixed feelings about the level of customer service.
The hotel's WiFi service is particularly criticized for its unreliability with numerous guests experiencing connectivity issues and finding the service spotty and unsecure.
Opinions about the beds are also mixed. While some guests find them comfortable, others complain about hard or uncomfortable beds, dirty or stained bedding and poor quality pillows. These issues significantly impact the comfort of the stay.
In conclusion, while the Red Roof Inn Mystic - New London benefits from a prime location and some friendly staff interactions, substantial improvements in room maintenance, cleanliness and WiFi connectivity are essential to enhance the overall guest experience.
