Summary of reviews
Summarized by AI
Misty Hills Country Hotel, Conference Centre & Spa is celebrated for its stunning location amidst lush vegetation and vibrant greenery, providing a tranquil escape conveniently close to Pretoria and Johannesburg. The beautiful natural scenery, including an orchid garden and rainforest-like surroundings, creates a restful and serene ambiance. This setting, combined with ample space and well-maintained grounds, makes it an ideal spot for families and nature lovers.
Accommodations are consistently praised for their cleanliness, spaciousness and tasteful African decor. The rooms, especially the executive and junior suites, offer luxurious amenities and scenic views, contributing to a unique and immersive experience. However, some guests noted issues with temperature control and occasional maintenance problems.
The hotel's dining experiences, particularly the Carnivore restaurant, are notable highlights. The Carnivore is frequently described as a unique and worthwhile experience with great ambiance and excellent food. However, inconsistencies in food quality and service, as well as limited vegetarian options, suggest room for improvement. Breakfast offerings receive mixed reviews; while many guests enjoy the variety and taste, others find the service slow and the food unremarkable.
Cleanliness across the property is generally commended with well-kept rooms and grounds contributing to a relaxing stay. Yet, some reviews mention cleanliness issues like cockroaches and an unclean swimming pool.
The hotel's staff is frequently praised for their friendliness and professionalism. Guests often feel welcomed and well-cared for, although there are occasional mentions of unprofessional or slow service, particularly in the restaurant and bar areas.
For guests seeking relaxation, the spa offers excellent treatments amidst a tranquil setting, although some amenities require upgrades and better maintenance. The pool area also garners varied feedback; while some enjoy it, others note significant maintenance issues and poor cleanliness.
Families particularly enjoy the hotel’s kid-friendly activities such as the petting zoo, quad bike trips and picnic spots, along with clean accommodations and attentive staff.
Despite the overall positive experience, subpar WiFi connectivity and inconvenient parking situations are notable drawbacks. The WiFi is often weak and unreliable and the parking areas are distant from the rooms, creating inconvenience for guests, especially those with mobility challenges.
In summary, Misty Hills Country Hotel, Conference Centre & Spa offers a serene and picturesque environment with comfortable accommodations and a range of activities. While dining and service exhibit room for improvement, the tranquil location, friendly staff and family-friendly atmosphere make it a charming destination for both relaxation and business.
