Summary of reviews
Summarized by AI
Africaren Budget Stay receives mixed reviews with its primary strengths being its convenient location and welcoming staff. Positioned near OR Tambo Airport, it serves as a practical choice for travelers in transit, making it easy for guests to catch early flights. The short taxi ride and peaceful surroundings add to its appeal, alongside its proximity to various public amenities.
Some guests found the rooms clean and highlighted a welcoming ambiance with comfortable bedding noted by certain visitors. The bathrooms were also praised for their cleanliness and access to hot water. Staff at Africaren Budget Stay receive overwhelmingly positive mentions, noted for their friendliness, helpfulness and exceptional service, especially individuals like Malibongwe and Nelly.
On the downside, the property struggles with significant cleanliness and maintenance issues. Guests frequently mentioned small cockroaches, pervasive cigarette smoke odors and unsafe conditions such as hanging electrical wires and unsecured windows. The rooms' outdated and worn-out facilities further detract from the experience. Cleanliness concerns extended to the pool with descriptions of dirty, milky water.
Free WiFi is listed as an amenity but often fails to deliver with many guests unable to access it from their rooms. Additionally, the quality and comfort of the beds present major concerns with reports of old, squeaky mattresses and unpleasant bedding.
In summary, while Africaren Budget Stay benefits from its excellent location and commendable staff, it requires significant improvements in room condition, cleanliness and amenities to enhance the guest experience.
