Guests at The Royal Duchy Hotel have praised the hotel's pool and sauna facilities, particularly the clean and well-maintained pool area with hot beds. The indoor heated pool is a real highlight with many guests enjoying its use along with the sauna. However, some guests noted that the pool restrictions were not particularly welcoming for solo travelers. The location of the hotel is ideal for those looking to stay close to the sea and the facilities are impressive overall. While the lack of air conditioning was mentioned by some, the lovely bar and swimming pool more than make up for it. The only complaint seemed to be that the pool was a little small for some guests. Overall, the pool and sauna were definitely highlights for many guests, making it worthwhile to stay at The Royal Duchy Hotel.

The Penventon Park Hotel has a great asset in their pool with many guests enjoying a morning swim, as well as kids loving it too. Although the pool can get busy as it is not only available to hotel guests, the spacious and heated pool is worth it. However, some guests did mention a few issues such as a restricted timetable for children or not being able to use the pool outside of family time. Despite this, many guests loved the pool and found it to be a highlight of their stay. The only downside seems to be the wait time for drinks by the pool and the fact that there wasn't much else to do for children if the pool wasn't available. Overall, the location, spa, restaurant and friendly staff added to the positive experience.
